Description
I made this for a Luxology contest!Total polycount is 5,724 polies. Tools used: Luxology Modo 601, Photoshop, ndo2 trial version. There's a seam down the middle of the ship on the bottom right image, I have no idea what's causing it, and it only shows up at render time.

I tried, but the way I laid out the UVs for this model, I mirrored all the UVs and for some reason that freaked out the occlusion map when I tried it.
I found this tut though!

huh? you mean baked occlusion? if you render inide modo there is no need to bake it and as such it should function anyway as its not related to the UV..

When I try to render occlusion I get strange banding in random areas of the ship, I think it has to do with the normal map mirroring I did?

weird... seeing as the amboc should function regardles of UV's..
for clarification im refering to using the occlusion shaders to simulate wethering effects dirt/grime etc..

try 55% spec 25% spec fresnel 5%reflection 10% reflect fresnel and check the blurry reflections box and you should have something.

Thanks, that helped! Though I nixed the reflections as they drove up render time quite a bit. :\

i see well imo some slight reflection is well worth the additional rendertime as it looks so much better and beliveable.

Really nice concept. In my head I was thinking Culture Superlifter or similar to one of the space craft on the cover of an old Asimov novel.
The only point I have is that the black background seems to swallow the image a little. A lighter or coloured background could really bring the four surrounding images to life

Thanks! I'm going to fix it up some more and rerender/reupload. What's a culture superlifter?

Awesome - will be cool to see.
The reference is from the Culture series of Sci-Fi novels by Iain M. Banks. [link]
I'm a big fan of the books myself. The description just reminded me of that, or of something from the PC game Homeworld.

Oh man the first line of that wiki entry sounds awesome! I'll have to try it. I'm reading A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge right now; if you like post-singularity scifi, you should definitely check it out. And Homeworld is a HUGE influence on me.

Thanks, yea, I'm working on it now. I'll reupload when I'm done, guess I spoke too soon when I said I finished it.
