Here's my entry for 's Sonic Villain Contest.

After reading the journal entry that described the rules of the contest, I immediately got a few ideas on how I was going to put it together, though the main detail I wanted to showcase is the use of water color paint to create the image of him being a water being. The brain, eyes, chaos emeralds, and arms are outlined and colored in using marker to add to that translucency he has.

Getting his pose down was a little bit of a challenge, yet what I mainly wanted to do was to give this sense of danger or fear that showcases him as a monster (fit for Halloween). That arm swiping to attack was inspired by some sprite artwork of Sonic the Werehog from Sonic Unleashed, and the background being black allows him not only to stand out, but to add that sense of fear. Plenty of help for his silhouette, shapes, and details came from watching Sonic X & his fight with Knuckles in Sonic Adventure.

I'm not gonna lie. To be able to draw Chaos for the first time was pretty special for me, since the Adventure series is a childhood favorite of mine. What I like about him is that he's a creature with a broken heart which manifests as rage against the world, just like Shadow.

May not be as great or intimidating as what other artists may have or will do, but I hope the guy holding the contest likes it and that it holds up pretty well.
