Loved the fanfic. It's kind of sad...imagining them getting older. Now both of them are "wondering souls". And Arnold doesn't even recognize her, even after she called him things like "Football Head" and "Arnaldo"

Hello again! I think I read Robert's fic before, but it was a long time ago and I never commented on it, so I went and did that a while ago, then I thought I'd come here.
Anyway, again, you did well capturing looks of them as they get older, and with the lighting/shading in the art, I think it helps them look a bit middle-aged. When I read the story, it made me think how dense Arnold still seems to be, especially not figuring out it's Helga since she called him "football head" and no else ever has. I bet she feels sorry for him a bit for losing Lila, but still I think she'd be heartbroken for them marrying in the first place, and it would be VERY hard for her to move on after that.
So the story was bittersweet, but I liked it, and I like that you brought a scene from it to life with this art.

I like the tone of this one, it looks all dusty and nostalgic.
They've both got that tired look about them. They don't look too young at all. I'd say that they are spot on.

The two "kids" look good as middle-aged adults, and I think you did all right with the age range (which happens to be mine too). Without reading the story I can only guess that Arnold either just got divorced or widowed; oddly, from his nostalgic smile I'd guess the latter, since it's as if he's remembering the good times.
He's also dressed somewhat businesslike so I'm guessing he's a professional, and the pad and pencil are out because he's always thinking about his work. (Then again, maybe that would have lead to a divorce, but the heavier shadows on his face still push me towards the widower possibility.)
The years were kind to Helga even if they show because she's still quite lovely, thin yet with a large and firm bust, a sweet face, and I'm guessing fairly good hair. It looks like she's trying to straighten out her hair a little for Football Head so he'll recognize her, but it looks like her nametag reads, "Geraldine" so that would only make it harder for him to realize. Even with time, that disappointed and longing gaze is still the same, and it's so much like her to try to get his attention but not let him know that she's trying.
The colors make me think of a bright sunny day at a dusty roadside stop, so that was done beautifully. Now let's hope that Helga's displays and conversation can make Arnold think of her. With any luck the years have taught him to pay more attention to what's happening right in front of him.

Wow, you got it all! Just the bright and sunny part it's supposed to be night time, but I imagined the interior of the restaurant bright and blue, very plastic lights. But since it was just a doddle I tried to make it look old and sandy just like the desert the story is situated in. I'm very happy you like it. I love your comments!
