It doesn't It doesn't flood like VeniceΒ because of the canals (like the one on the picture) that guide the water away from the city. Despite the canals, the old foundations of theΒ cityΒ are slowly sinking deeper intoΒ the ground because its clay soilΒ and not rock or real earth like in the east.

As far as I know of (Dutch girl here and living near Amsterdam) it never looksΒ or either stays that way. It should return to its dark blue over timeΒ if the photograph isn't altered.

I've never seen this side of Amsterdam. Not that I go to Amsterdan often, I come from 's-Hertogenbosch
Is this maybe more like the outer ring of the city? It's a beautiful photograph and it must say it changes my view of Amsterdam

I would say this is the centre of the city for sure the outer rings of the city dont really have canals like thisΒ
