I love this! Adorable idea. I say go for the adopts if you can manage to tie it into his character/story.

He was a pampered kid, but was kept indoors and told that the world was perfect. Then he finally managed to get outside and realised the world is messed up, so he became emo and pessimistic...nothing really to do with potatoes ;D But thanks anyway^^
