Description Hey, I haven't posted in a while, so I decided to share this 4-dir attack animation I've made for Nikita. Might also show some other animations later.

You have an amazing talent, not only for drawing and designing in pixel art, but also animating. It looks so amazingly smooth. How many frames is that, if you dont mind me asking? I been able to do an idle and walking cycle, but now I am trying to do an attack, which is a sword attack, but I am debating how long to do it lol so I am trying to limit myself to a set of frames so I do't over complicate things.

This animation has a total of 8 frames. The first 2 frames before the actual sword swing are for winding up, then 2 frames for the swing itself, the rest 4 frames are for winding down. I could've done more frames, but decided to keep it simple enough while still looking smooth to my liking. 
For the sword attack consider some things like if you want it to be a quick slash, or a heavy attack, or if you want to add some choreography elements (like Gerald in The Witcher), then estimate the number of frames based n this decision.

Oh nice, thanks. It didn't look like 8 to me cuz of how smooth, I thought it was around 12 lol. Damn, I need to learn to be more efficient in between frame cuz sometimes I try to make it real smooth, so I animate too many in-betweens. Sometimes I forget that I need to be a bit more efficient on pixel animation.

Thanks for your input, I will keep that in mind. I am aiming more towards how the slashes on Megaman Zero are, which is a succession of slashes(3 slashes to be exact). I will do my bet to be more efficient and study more how to maintain a lower frame count, while still keeping the smoothness.
