But seriously, if you force your kids to read the news, they might start to hate the news.

Ugh! Back in school, I was forced to "read up on current events" and do a paper on a topic I catch on the news. It was terrible with my dad on my ass about it. =3= This is before youtube so I couldn't pause and rewind to catch all of that.

I was always encouraged to watch the news, and honestly now I'm looking back on it, I'm glad that I was encouraged. not just because I'm a Television student, but it's important to see what's wrong with the world and the bad it contains, so you know what needs to be changed. I'll admit though that if the News your watching is something like fox news, that might get a little grating very quickly

Oh fair enough, forcing a kid to read the news can be harmful especially if its about a concept they are not ready for. When I was encouraged, it was always for things my parents new I could handle at that age, but if your forcing a child to read a story on rape, that could lead to some really bad effects on their psyche
