Kokoto: I just wanted to be like everypony.. Who get to frolic and play, and enjoy their day.. while I'm locked away..
Zecora: It is for your own protection.. but I am sorry you feel such rejection. Koto, you are most dear to me, please can't you see; you must listen when I speak, not wander off and sneak. There are many dangers about, which is why I don't want you out.
Kotoko: Yes mother, I understand.. I will follow your command. *sulks and frowns*
Zecora: *sighs sadly and nuzzles her son* The time will come when you can play, but it must be on another day. After Timber hibernation, you will receive your liberation. Now, let us go clean up that cut, before it attracts a Timberwolf mutt.

After being told not to go outside, Koto left the house anyways and wandered into the Everfree Forest.
There, Koto started hearing howling and noises shuffling behind him.
He began running in any direction, disoriented, and ended up tripping and cutting his forehead on a twig.
Zecora did not want her son wandering around when the Timberwolves were active, which happens the same time every year before they disappear into hibernation state for a season.
Koto understands the dangers of the forest, but he is lonely, and Zecora knows that; but until the dangers pass, she has no choice but to keep him inside. The only time Koto gets to see Ponyville is when Zecora brings him along on her supply runs, even then, she doesn't let him stray far from her side.
Price of being raised in the Everfree Forest.

I find it really adorable that they both speak in rhymes all the times (hint hint wink wink).

lol it makes it that I have to focus a bit more when writing their dialogue too
But its only natural. Someone raised with english speaking parents, they speak english.
Those raised with a british accept, will have a british accent.
So he was raised around rhymes, he also speaks in rhymes
