Description
I've done this kind of thing before and I still enjoy the mesmerizing type factor it has. (Similar fractal: [link] )It seems rendering at a higher resolution to a lower density is faster than the opposite--low resolution and higher density--while still looking just as detailed. Think I'm going to stick with these new quality settings. (3600x2700 and 3000-10000 density)
Made with Apophysis 7x and Gimp. Fractal 107.

Lovely! I like how the brighter blue part of the spirals make them look like individual swirlies, but on closer inspection they just swirl into a darker blue section of the other swirls.

Hopefully, you like math, complex music (both lyrically and instrumentally), and existential philosophy. If so, check this out:

The lyrics presented along with it are not 100% correct, but the intention is certainly there. Also, if these concepts intrigue you, I strongly suggest seeing The Tree of Life (new Terrance Malick film) as soon as you can. Though, you should know going in that it's very atypical as far as having a clear narrative, considerably slow-paced, and often times quiet, to the point that many would call it boring. However, the images presented are exceedingly beautiful (a lengthy segment about 20 minutes in alone being worth the price of admission), the ideas brought forth both nostalgic and progressive, and the emotive content able to be mapped to one's own psyche if they allow it. Also, despite some overt christian references, I believe the film is meant to take the form of whichever philosophy/religion one ascribes to. For instance, I'm an atheist, and am easily turned off when a film is utilizing the idea of god to make a point, and if anything I felt it puts us all on an even playing field. A believer, on the other hand, may very well see the film as a monument to the glory of god. Neither of us would be incorrect as far as the intentions of the director are concerned.
Sorry, for the impromptu review, I just really can't get that film out of my mind and based on the imagery you create, there's definitely some aspects that you'll be drooling over.
Here's the trailer if you've never seen it: [link]
It's about everything... all of it.

I thought you might have meant that, so I looked it up beforehand. Interesting song. It's honestly too slow for my taste, but I see how it's a mellow 'I want to lay down and let my mind run blank' song. It's good. Pretty much a sung poem.
Quite the review. @_@ I don't have access to Netflix anymores though, so yeah. >_>

Well, it's instantly what came to mind when I looked at this piece, so I was compelled to make the reference, and I'm sure any big fan of Tool would have had the same thought. I think the essence of the song's meaning (and the whole of Tool's artistic endeavors, for that matter) would be appealing to anyone that enjoys fractals as more than just "pretty patterns and colors", but yea, if it's not your taste in music, it's not your taste in music.
Anywho, The Tree of Life is just now out in theaters, and I strongly suggest seeing it in one if you can, if only to be enveloped by some gorgeous, fractal-like imagery (for part of the film). In all seriousness, I'm not speaking in hyperbole at all when I say that there are some phenomenally epic shots that you'll enjoy having burned into your mind.
But yea, sorry to clutter up your comments here with my excitable, long-winded ramblings; there are just certain things that spark my interest so intensely that I can't help but share them with others whom I suspect might feel the same.

I did not understand the artist's comment; therefore, I skipped it.
..Anyway, non-technical comments are my forte so... 'Awesome.' xD
