Nightmare time!

Well, I don’t know how much scary would you find this. I guess all depends on personal fears. For me… it was enough disturbing to put it in the nightmare category.

Sunrise. I was walking through some waste deserted place. Was it a desert? Could be. I saw multiple hills around.

At some point, I found myself between a few low hills surrounding lowland covered with morning fog. That place looked interesting. Sun was slowly rising revealing that place in the sunlight. I noticed that there were many and many large formless… boulders? Those things had the same color and pattern like all the small rocks around. I was walking in-between those ‘boulders’ until I noticed that they were getting alive as fast as the sun touched them.

What I took for boulders were, in reality, something close to sea slugs. Creatures were around 2 to 5 m long. They were sleeping turned in balls, but as fast as sun showed up, they unpacked themselves and started slowly moving uphill while opening and revealing some structure on their backs that looked like trees with red leaves. Those structures looked solid and strong, but very soon I learned that it was very light, soft and hollow inside…

Really soon I was surrounded by moving forest made by those creatures. All of it was just stunning. I was glad to be there…. And then I touched one of creature’s ‘tree’ branch with my shoulder…. It immediately wrapped itself around my arm and back like some octopus’s tentacles and pulled to the creature with a lot of force. Then I saw that at the ‘root’ of those ‘trees’ was hidden mouth with a large sharp beak. I panicked and started trying to get out.

All of those branches.., tentacles were weak, but there were just too much of them and there was no way not to touch more while getting rid of the ones that already were on me. The worst part that the creature continued to move toward the hill completely ignoring me and other creatures were all around piling together choosing an easy path for themselves. I was dangerously close to the moment when there would be no way out.

I finally released myself and almost crawled out from their way. Miraculously avoiding more contact. Creatures continued their way until they were on the hill. Now it looked like a nice small forest of red leaves. I guessed, they were hunting for birds and other flying creatures that would be trapped as fast as they land on those fake trees.
