I'm back for Thanksgiving Break! I feel bad for being terrible with uploads while you guys have been so cool and supportive so I figure, why not just post sketches and update submissions when I have the time to polish them? Better I show some rough art than none at all, says I. Practice is important!! I also need to update the savewoy group because there have been good news and bad news on that end sooo I suppose I'm back? I hope so?

Anyways, as far as the art itself goes I always had it in my head that a human Peridot would be Korean and Amethyst would be Mexican. The hair kind of sucked for me though, because I was kind of debating things like "should I make Amy's hair lighter like in the show? Should I give Peridot black hair?"

In the end I decided that Peridot would have black hair but she would bleach most of it. She wouldn't touch the roots, though: I bet she'd be a weenie like me and not tempt the risk of permanently damaging her hair. I also made Peridot look more hippie-ish than I thought I would? I blame Gem Harvest for that, dang lesbian farmers. Peridot is wearing a loose top tucked into jean-shorts, with tights that have tears that are somewhat diamond-shaped. The stripes and diamond are actually a necklace, not part of the shirt. I got that idea while thinking about those bracelets that you can stretch out that have dark elastic wires connecting a bunch of bars. The green hairpiece loosely resembling her gem is actually a scrungie-thing that I added last second just to see if it could work.

In hindsight, I don't think Amethyst's hair would be as long as it is here. Maybe mid-back, but not to her feet like in the show. Also, I feel like occasionally she'd dye the whole thing purple or get rad streaks. B) The rest is pretty self-explanatory, I think. I made her gem a necklace so it could go over her chest like in-show and I made her shirt look more intentionally torn instead of straight-up ripped. It was originally gonna be a skirt and shirt combo with tights, but like, I figured that was too similar to Peri. So it's jeans with tights underneath and a whole shirt!

So now you know why I asked about gijinkas before! Please let me know if you want to see more stuff like this; I feel like it'd be interesting to come up with my own designs for different gems and fusions that don't fall into the conventions everyone else uses (Giving Peridot a hijab or Jasper vitiligo, for example. I thought those ideas were clever and neat until I saw most people going with it. :/). I also have concepts for Kirby characters if anyone wants to see those, but I'm a little nervous about that because I love Kirby so much?? hahahahahHA
