Here it is finally…. Sort of. The first part at least. XD

A lot of people have been asking me about what became of Aina after part 4, which I decided to make into it’s own mini series instead of a part of “Aftermath”. I plan to have this as a smaller arc running beside the main story.

The main focus will always be on Vizuri’s story, but once in a while I may take a break and make a part of this one instead. Which I have decided to call “Scars of redemption”.

Which is also a sort of sequel to the story: Hearts of three: Part 1
So, if you haven't already, you may want to read that one first if you want some more context to what goes on in this one.

English is my second language and I have done my best to look misspells and grammars.
But feel free to correct wrongs if you spot them as long as you are polite about it.

::::::::::::::::::::

"M-my face… Mom! My face!” Aina touched her wounds again, as if to see if it was still there. “It’s never going to be the same again, isn't?! It’s going to leave a scar! What am I going to do?!”

Zuri watched her daughter stress over the marks that now decorated her cheek. She then gently took Aina’s paw of her face. “Calm down, Aina. I’m sure they will heal as long as you stop touching them. It may get infected if you keep poking at it.” She said, trying to sound convincing. Because truth to be told Zuri had no idea if Aina’s wound could be completely healed or not. Zuri had just been about to leave with the rest of her hunting team when she had been stopped and informed that her daughter was hurt. Worried, she had hurried in the direction she had been pointed to, where Aian was.

She had been relieved to see that Aina was not seriously hurt. But Aina was apparently very shaken by whatever had happened. Upon seeing her mother, she threw herself around her neck and started to sniff shakily into her fur. Zuri hadn’t bother with questions at the time, but just held Aina and tried to comfort her the best she could. Once Aina had calmed down enough and Zuri made sure she was well taken cared of. She had gone of and angry demanded answers for what the hell had happened. Both Kion’s son, Jamili and another young lion who had witnessed the event both told her all the same story.

Though Zuri was upset over her daughter's injuries, she was also filled with shame after she had heard what Aina had done.

Zuri didn’t know what she had done wrong while raising Aina. Despite doing her best, Aina had turned out to be a difficult cub. Arrogant, popular along her peers and merciless toward those she considered unworthy. Zuri had tried to warn Aina that her friends may end up leaving her if she kept up with the unsympathetic treatment of those around her. But her daughter had, like many other times, not taken her mothers word for it. But instead expected everyone too keep admire her no matter what she did. Which had of course not been the case. While a part of Zuri was sad that things had to turn out this way, she hoped that Aina would learn from this experience and perhaps now think more about how she treated those around her.

Turned out again had given her arrogant daughter too much credit.

Instead of thinking about her own actions, Aina had done what she usually did when she felt hurt or upset. She let out her anger on someone else. Which in this case had been Kiara’s daughter, Vizuri. The two of them had been at each other before and Zuri knew that Aina was jealous of Vizuri for being a princess. But not since they where young cuds had their quarrels turned into violence.

Then, Aina suddenly seemed to snap out of her self-pity and rose to her paws, starting to walk toward the main cave. “I’m gonna get her for this! There is no way they will let her of the hook for almost killing me. I’m gonna make sure they -”  Zuri then got up too and blocked Aina’s path, locking her eyes into hers. “Sit down, Aina!” She growled. “You have some explaining to do. What happened back there?”

While Zuri already knew, she wanted to hear her daughter's part as well. Aina seemed surprised over the question. “What happen?! Are you blind or something? She attacked me out of the blue-”

“Do not lie to me!” Zuri growled. “I’ll ask you again. What happened?”

“I am telling the truth! I did nothing! She just attacked me while I was passing by! She is a lunatic!”

Zuri sighed displeased, she hadn’t really expected Aina to tell the truth. But a part of Zuri always hoped she would when she gave her the chance to explain herself. But as usual she heard she couldn’t trust her daughter. “According to what I heard from the others involved, you did much more than “nothing”. You accused Vizuri of killing Simba. That’s an outrage accusation not only on the royals, but also on a family who just lost their father and grandfather. What where you thinking, Aina!? How could you even say such a thing?”

Aina clenched her teeth together and glared back with angry tears in her eyes. “Mom… She made fun of me for losing my friends! She called me pathetic and that it was no wonder they turned their back on me-”.

“Still, that’s no excuse Aina! You had no business bothering the princess in the first place! It’s a wonder that no one lashed out at you before.” Zuri then sighed and soften her voice slightly. “Either way, you’ll have meet the royals tomorrow and explain yourself to Queen Kiara and King Kovu. They will decide the consequences for your actions. And don’t make a fool of yourself by denying-”

“WHAT?!” Aina stared in disbelief at her mother. “I was that one who was attacked and they will punish ME for it?! How is that fair?!”

"You’re both at fault here, Aina. Yes, Vizuri was wrong to strike you. But you’re not without blame in this either. You threw some serious accusations at a part of the royal family, they are not just going to look past that.  Zuri sighed again. "You’re not a cub anymore. So far, Kiara has looked the other way because she counted on me to discipline you whenever you have done wrong. But it don’t seem to have helped. Kiara will be fair, but this time things went too far and you will have to face the consequences as a pride member. I hope you’ll learn something from this-”

Angry tears were running down Aina's cheeks. “I can’t believe you… not even now you want to support your own daughter?”

This took Zuri a little by surprise.“What are you- ...Of course, I will Aina. You’re my daughter and I love you more than anything. But that don’t mean I can just look the other way or approve even when you do wrong-”

“You have never approved or supported me in ANYTHING! All I ever heard from you is how different I should be and how disappointed you’re in me!”

Zuri shook her head sadly. Aina wasn’t completely wrong, she had disapproved a lot of her daughter's ambitions and behavior over the years. But what else had she been supposed to do?

“Aina... I know I have been hard on you when you have crossed the lines, but I did it for your own good. So far you have been a merciless bully and unsympathetic even with those close to you. And believe it or not, I was a lot like you when I was young. But that's why I wanted something better for you-”

“Yeah that turned out just fine didn’t it? You never lost your friends! You was never attacked!”

Like so many times before, Zuri now questioned herself if she really did the right thing in not telling Aina the truth about Hasani. What his ambition had led him to do and how it ultimately had costed him his life. But despite her daughter’s behavior, Zuri had never had the heart to tell her.

“I understand more than you think Aina. But I can see there is no use in trying to reason with you. But enough of it now. I’ll send a request to Rafiki so he can come and treat your wounds-”

“I’m going there myself!” Aina suddenly outburst and strode past her mother. Zuri tried to stop her. Knowing that traveling with an open wound, even shorter distances was not a good idea. “Aina, wait! You really shouldn't walk off with those-”

“No! I have had enough of you or your lectures! I need some damn space where I can be myself! Away from you!” And with that she was gone.

Zuri just stood there, looking in the direction her daughter had disappeared in. Debating with herself if she should follow her and force her to come back, again it would be for her own good. … No. Zuri decided eventually. All this time she had forced Aina to do the right thing, and what good had it done? She wasn’t a cub anymore, maybe it was time she started to learn the errors of her way in her own way. Even if it would end up leaving lasting marks.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Yeah, I know a lot of people have been eager to see Aina punished, which is hinted at in this part. While Aina’s deed will not be forgotten, the main focus of this story will not be about seeing her get punished. But rather her progress of change as a character from now on.

I suspect some of you would have liked to see something more extreme from Zuri’s side. That she would yell at Aina mercilessly and ultimately disown her. But while she is angry at Aina for what she has done, Zuri is not the kind of parent who gives up on her child or tosses her aside even when she do stupid shit.

Also, Aina is not really fair to Zuri either when she claims that she never supports her, since Zuri has kinda been placed between a hard place and a rock there.

Since Aina is the way she is, their relationship is also kinda strained, since Zuri don’t approve her bad behavior and make sure there are consequences when she do something bad. While this is just Zuri trying to be good parent, this has also made Aina associate her mom mostly with scoldings and disapproval. There has been good moments between them too and Zuri have tried to bond with Aina in a good way too. But it has been hard to overshadow the bad stuff. :/

Yeah, it’s also ironic to me personally because I have an account on a fanfiction site with a Lion King story and have a character named Aina as well, and she’s nothing like your Aina.

Aina also has another meaning in Swahili in some parts of Africa, it means difficult birth or born with hardships. So in that sense her name makes sense, but poor Zuri has to deal with a difficult child.

I didn't know that, it's actually fitting considering Aina ended up being a difficult cub for Zuri. xD

Poor Zuri, she did everything she could to be a good mother and teach Aina from right and wrong, but Aina is to stubborn to head her mother's warnings about the consequences of her behavior. At this point Zuri will have to let Aina go and learn the consequences by herself, like she said Aina is not a cub anymore so not even her mother punishing her will do anything as Aina is basically grown up now despite being a teenager. And if anything it's Aina's fault that her mother is associated with scolding's and discipline because Aina forces Zuri's hand with her behavior towards everyone, there was no way Zuri can let her behavior go unpunished and Aina pushes Zuri away to so it's impossible for Zuri and Aina to truly bond. Aina is becoming worse just like her father.

And I knew Aina will vow revenge for what Vizuri did to her face, but Zuri was right, while Vizuri shouldn't have attacked, Aina was also guilty as she accused the princess of her murdering her grandfather and in some Prides Aina could have been executed or banished. I feel like shes going to meet her paternal grandmother and learn the truth about her royal heritage and like Vizuri, run away from home.

Indeed.

Aina has actually already met her parental grandmother at this point.
They came visiting once when Aina was a cub.

Ah okay

But now I fear this is just the beginning, now that Vizuri's gone and Aina got scratch, I fear that Aina's going to become the new Hasani and might gather the lionesses that don't like Vizuri to be on her side as they will feel bad for what she did to Aina, despite Aina being a brat they will use what Vizuri did as a reason to not only see her as Zira's reincarnation, they might slowly turn their backs on the royals thinking they're covering for Vizuri's "crime"

And I can't wait to see Vizuri again. hopefully she made her own pride.

I wonder if Aina will follow suit and leave Priderock instead of going to Rafiki since she thinks her mother betrayed her? And Aina made itclear Vizuri wouldn't get away with what she did to her face, and if she runs away and avoids the royals punishment it can be seen as treason on Aina's part like "Avoiding the law" and that will put Zuri in an even worse position if her daughter is seen as a deserter.

Yep, Aina deserves all of this this for sure. I'd have a way worse punishment for her, but I guess this will do too. I hope that she indeed will have to talk to the royals, especially after she(among others) made Vizuri run away. I simply don't wanna see her just brush everything off like she used to do all the time before this event. The bitch even has a nerve to accuse her mother...what a pathetic brat, indeed.

Why do I have a feeling that she may try to follow her father's footsteps(even without knowing what he did)...

The royals will likely give her some kind of punishment once/if she face them, but it will not be anything harsh.
Maybe, we'll see.

Geez, she is very conviced that she will always play the victim. And the excuse that "She told mE Is my faUlt wai I loose my friends!!111" (? Is not that serious than accusing You to kill your grandfather. If she were raised by a latino mom, some kick of chanclas and that's it XD. I know violence cause more violence, I was jk, but If I were Zuri, I would tell Aina (as a cub) about her father, the things he had done and how arrogant was him in fact, maybe that could change Aina like saying "I don't want to be like him, I will do better"... Maybe.

Irete In reply to chizooo [2019-02-12 10:58:46 +0000 UTC]

Maybe it would have, or maybe not.
But it would also be kinda cruel to dump the "you're the child of a traitor and murder" fact on a cub.
Which may still have affected Aina in a bad way, just differently. Since she also have a habit of lashing out against
others when she is upset, she may still have been a bully.

Cusackanne [2019-02-10 13:40:55 +0000 UTC]

As the per usual, Aina is just too big of a brat to really listen. :/ And her superior complex isn't helping, either.

She definitely acts like a spoiled brat who believes they know everything, can get away with doing horrible things and refusing to admit they've messed up. In the end, she did this to herself, even if she's refusing to admit it. And believing her loved ones will back her up, even when she does horrible things is also unreasonable. Plus, she just talks down to anyone she randomly decides are unworthy of her company and thus, is now alone and only has herself to blame for everything.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this will change her, if it does at all. I just want to see her get the much needed dose of morality and finally realize its her own fault she got into this mess and has to pull herself out of the hole she dug for herself.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Irete In reply to Cusackanne [2019-02-11 17:10:51 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, Aina could get away with a lot when she was still popular along her peers, which left her with pretty screwed up reality view and morality.
It's not uncommon either, as far as I know, for bullies to play victim even if they where the ones who started the whole mess.

We'll see how well she manage to get herself out of this hole. But it will take some time to get herself out if she ever does.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cusackanne In reply to Irete [2019-02-12 00:06:30 +0000 UTC]

Indeed. ;w; It shows, since she refuses to acknowledge how badly she treated said peers and thus, her nasty behavior chased them away. ;w;

Oh yeah, its not. :/ Bullies like to cause trouble and if possible, try to play the victim or blame it on another to avoid getting into trouble.

Let's hope so. If not, I feel she'll follow her father's steps, to where, her greed and selfishness will land her in such big trouble, she'll never get out. Or worst... End up like him: Dead.
