Description
I plotted multiple dots in random locations across paper, connected them, and colored in the spaces created with different colors (which took a long time). I remember how I used to do this when I was younger, so decided to make it into an art project.Related content

Really love the way it looks, and all the colors look amazing together!

This is awesome! Very high skill level for high school age, I can barely even draw a straight line. Lol.Β

Thanks! I told a peer that it was merely connecting dots with a ruler and coloring the spaces in, but he said I was being too humble, haha.

The coloring part, I could do, but the straight lines, even setting up the grid is the most difficult part of drawing portraits for me. Lol.Β

I like doing it. Math is interesting to me, and I've become good at measuring things. That had almost nothing to do with this artwork, though, as I just plotted random dots and connected them. My method for grids and lines in general is to have the ruler perpendicular to the line, mark off measurements at the top and bottom, then connect the dots.

When I draw my portraits, I set up the grid with 1x1 squares, makes it much easier to get the proportions right. I mark off the measurements on both sides of the paper, so that way, my ruler is straight....if I didn't, you'd see the line slowly angling toward one direction!Β

Yep. I used to do that. It's somewhat cheating, though.

Oh well. Haha. At least it's not too bad of a method of cheating.

Nice! Like others have said i also did a similar thing when i was younger generally using Paint on the computer. Making a basic pattern then coloring/filling each area making sure that none of the shapes that joined/met had the same color.
I should try your method of joining the dots sometime.Β Β

I always did it with circles when I was in middle school

I doodled in class and I drew a chibi of my teacher and drew little vortex all over it and pack man and the Mario flower and fireballs and cherry and I made a evil pack man with a fang a tongue and cat ears and like just all kinds of silly things all over the paper and I loved the way it turned out

Nice. Did you show it to the teacher and if so, what did (s)he think? Also, did you submit it here on the site?

Lol I remember doing something similar to this as a kid... I'd sit there and draw circles squares abstract shapes then color them all in

Yeah, same. For me, it goes all the way back to my first year of school. It's a simple concept, but results in some neat creations.

I like how, even though there's lots of colours, they don't interfere with one another and you can see the brightness and contrast of each

IridescentCatalyst In reply to mrcccc [2015-12-22 01:29:01 +0000 UTC]
Thanks! The point was to not have the same color next to each other, which was sometimes difficult to do. If you look closely, I was careless countless times, esp. with the smaller spaces, but from a distance, you can't tell.

Thanks! I wasn't sure if someone would think of the movie, but I put it as the title because it's the word I'd use to describe it. However, there's no relation to the movie, esp. because I've never seen it.

The front of the box says 18, but the back says 15. Honestly I think it should be a 12. There's not much swearing, but it's pretty violent.

IridescentCatalyst In reply to dualzxz [2015-12-18 00:30:17 +0000 UTC]
Yeah. "Rated R: Restricted β under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian." Really, though, in my opinion, kids these days are subjected to so much stuff that they could watch it a few years younger and it'd be alright.

Just like me lol.Β
I can't believe that's an R, there's so little in it! I guess there was a slightly gruesome scene ( SPOILER ALERT) Β where the guy had the bug removed from his stomach, ( SPOILER END) Β but that was nothing much.Β
There were a lot of guns at the end though.Β
I feel mature now that I know I watch an R XD
