This one was a joy to paint but a nightmare to photograph!

I wanted to try some new techniques with a new kind of 3D grey paint I'd acquired. It reminded me of stained glass, so that was the look I went for. I also tried sugar on this one for the first time. (Unfortunately, much of the texture was lost to the camera! Scans were even worse :,()

I've been feeling very adventurous lately with art (and otherwise but that's not the point). The sugar created some beautiful swirl effects. Since I was painting on tile, the paint flaked annoyingly, but that also meant I could lay down standing water, daub bits of paint into it at strategic locations, and swirl them with my brush. Nothing on here is flat color. Violet is swirled with cobalt blue, lemon yellow laid down over sap green, and sky blue mixed in with basically everything for a good nighttime tinge.

(This one's been in the works since about Christmas time and it took me awhile to finally get it uploaded after it was done!)
