I'm so sorry I thought it was road kill at first because of the bit of red on the first stone and the title. But it is very meaningful and speaks for many of us

I love this so much. It seems simple at first but when you look, it has a huge impact. The depth of field is amazing which is just another reason that it makes this perfect.

If this was photo-shoped then I respect your ability to take something simple and make it into something complex and if it was not then you are a well trained photographer whom I aspire to someday be on par with when it comes to artistic ability and pure imagination.

This picture with its complex simplicity made me think so much that I realized all the things in my life that molded me into whom I am today and allowed me to shed a tear to release some of my deepest emotions; for that fact alone I feel I need to thank you.

irient In reply to seancfrench5 [2010-02-07 14:10:39 +0000 UTC]

The editing is really minor, just a little adjustment of the curves. I like to keep my photography as natural as possible. Not a big fan of over-the-top post processing.

And wow. It is always really moving when I see that some of my work touches people and evokes strong emotions. Thank you so much.

I believe I am missing the concept of this piece. Would you be willing to explain it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

irient In reply to MewtwosLittleOne [2010-02-07 14:14:58 +0000 UTC]

The concept is open to interpretation. What I tried to capture were mainly many human fears like desertion, depression, rejection. Feelings of being alone and isolated. The subject matter itself can be interpreted freely and is applicable to a variety of personal experiences of the viewer.
Basically, the idea of this is to evoke emotions and fears and reflect oneself.

Hechser [2010-02-07 02:29:41 +0000 UTC]

I'm confused as to why this is a daily deviation.
It is a nice shot and a good conceptual piece. However, I do not feel myself interested by these two stones. Perhaps I am looking at this from too much of a Kracauer viewpoint, but I do not see the artistic side. Although the chosen depth is effective at enhancing the concept that is where the artistic line is drawn for me.
Beyond that - I only see two stones, on ground, surrounded by grey.
Of course photography does not have to be complex to be effective. But I feel that the concept is let down by the lack of artistic credibility.
It is only an opinion however, and I see many other people disagree with me.

hellsangel13 In reply to Hechser [2010-03-21 05:09:52 +0000 UTC]

Not really I kind of agree with you. Maybe it's because I'm not a photographer but while it does held great meaning and deserves the favs and comments, perhaps not really a DD. Sorry DeMaulwurfn But it is really a beautiful shot

I want to thank you for being intelligent about this and not just spreading more useless dArama about on this page as happens too often. You show that it is possible to disagree with a DD and say so without making an idiot out of yourself or spewing needless hate. Thank you.

SpilledSalt [2010-02-06 23:12:40 +0000 UTC]

It's a picture of 2 pebbles, sir. It's not really what I'd expect to get a Daily Deviation. Besides the quality, there's not much to really grasp.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

irient In reply to SpilledSalt [2010-02-06 23:28:26 +0000 UTC]

It's not something for a broad audience I assume. Everyone has a different taste and relates to stuff in other ways.

Thank you nonetheless.
