You know when you're about to go to bed and that's when you get all the ideas for things? Yeah, I couldn't help but draw this one... and this is the reason I don't get sleep -_-

This species tends to be fairly uncommon on Vael, and it's a good thing too. These little suckers have a potent venom that when injected, will paralyses the body of the prey (excluding the face) for roughly a week, maybe more. Once the prey is paralysed, the insect will feed off it and lay it's eggs in the remains. Depending on the size of the prey, a single kill can last a Paralys a month or more and so these creatures don't tend to have a high kill-rate despite the potency of their venom. Once stung, the prey is alive while eaten however will usually die within a few days of being stung due to dehydration.
The face of the creature is always left unaffected by the poison, this is so if the animal makes noise, they will attract other predators who will tear into the paralysed prey, making it easier for the Paralys to feed off.
The Avyloci will often catch these insects and either remove the poison sacks to eat as food, however the healers will often keep them and use the poison for medicinal purposes. The Paralys are often an average size of an adult human hand.
There is no immediate cure for the Paralys poison and if a person is stung, they will require constant care for the duration of the poison's effects. For the first 2-3 days, it floods the body with a painful burning sensation after which it fades into total numbness however the affected still has a very dull and faded sense of touch. During this time, the person also has a strong nausea that comes in waves at any time through the day or night and will throw up frequently however this also fades after 3-4 days. At 7-9 days, the whole body gains the feeling of constant tingling or 'pins and needles' as the person slowly regains full feeling and control over their body however for up to a week after full control has been regained, the affected will remain quite weak.
There is no lasting damage from the poison itself provided the person receives adequate care.
