Oooooh my goodness, Nix this is easily one of your best pieces so far. It instantly leaped out at me: great expressions as always, solid shading and lineart that's cleaner than usual. I love your use of shadows and accent lights to create contrast, it makes an otherwise murky picture jump... and brings out eyes to their faces, oh gosh which is just so perfect. I have no critiques to offer for this one-- all your recent practice is paying off, and this piece here is just plain gorgeous. Bravo!
I am seriously so in love their their dynamic, aaah. There's something so sweet about this big, seemingly-strong man torn down by his own emotions-- only to be comforted by his partner, sweet little Ace. There are many different types of strengths, and these two obviously have a great balance.

Yeah, poor Flower... All his life he hasn't been able to 'sleep' at all, then he gets with Ace and suddenly he's able to calm down enough to sleep on his own for the first time but then he gets plagued with all these nightmares.....Β
They certainly do their best to be there for each other <3 And be completely adorable!

Aww, that's a really sweet allegory there-- sleep! It makes me really wonder what Flower was like before meeting Ace, how he handled things including the stress brought upon him by his job and history. The best relationships are those in which two people bring out the best in each other, especially when they have to pull through thick and thin only to come out better. Fire-forged strength! I feel this way about my husband and I, and I love seeing it in fictional characters. Good on Ace! Good on Flower! <3 FEELS.

Well before Flower met Ace he couldn't really sleep at all. It's because he was built by scientists, but his particular generation had a whole host of problems, one of them being that his mind is constantly overloaded and moving too fast for the poor thing to handle. Which means his mind can never relax or slow down so he can't sleep. Before he met Ace he'd almost constantly be high on drugs as the only way to calm his mind down to a level where he can function properly. Once he met Ace, before they were together they would link (using Flower's dreads) and through Ace, Flower could simulate sleep.Β
Then one they bonded (basically formed a life-bond), it enabled Flower to calm his mind enough when Ace is around that he's able to sleep on his own, which is where the nightmares begin....Β

Oh gosh, that's a brilliant idea. Sleep is such a simple but important process, so it's really sweet that Ace pretty much gained it through Flower. Hey, I guess he learned to dream eh! <3

Absolutely, sleep is certainly a theme through their whole relationship. One of the things that caused them to become friends was that Flower linking with Ace while he slept not only let Flower also simulate sleep, but it also stopped Ace from having all the nightmares he was having at the time.Β
