AND, one day till the deadline, here is my entry for 2016 contest: 1st round Wonderful Christmas Time . For a moment there, I thought I wasn't going to make it... Because all of my Christmas Presents are handmade amigurumi, I quite literally didn't have the time to work on this till this weekend and am SO happy that I was able to finish it and I must say... I am SO VERY happy with how it turned out It's exactly how I envisioned it

Anyways... here come the long texts.....

- Quick Bio - Gwen (the red head), full name Gwenelyn Carver, was born in Inkiba, a highly developed realm where there's only a high class (5%) and a lower class (95%), there is no middle class. The rich and powerful, currupt and large mob families make up the 5% of the higher class while everyone else makes up the lower class. Even the working class in included in the lower class as they inhabit the lower city slums. The commoners have a saying: "About money in Inkiba, you're either swimming in it, begging for it or stealing it."

Gwen was born in the second situation. Her parents worked but they barely made ends meet as it was. When Gwen was old enough to walk, she was out in the streets begging. She hated her life. Before the three of them could starve to death, Gwen started stealing and soon after ran away from home. What began with pickpocketing evolved over the years to breaking into people's houses, assaults at knife point moving on to actual robberies, hostage taking and even assassinations. She joined a gang and was successful for a while. Every surplus that she got, she would anonymously leave to her parents who believed she was dead.

When Gwen was 18 years old, one of her jobs went wrong when a group of Specialists thwarted a robbery and her team left her behind. She fought back but when it was clear that she had no chance of escape, she surrendered. She was captures and arrested. However, the Specialist instructor was so impressed with her skills and performance, he gathered his influence and was able to get her a deal: Either she joined Red Fountain and use her skills for good by becoming a Specialist, or she could rot in jail till she was an old maid. Gwen didn't hesitate...

- Scene plot - It is December 25th. On the previous night there was a ball where the students from the 3 main Schools of Magix were able to attend together. This morning, as per tradition, its sleep-in day as it is the only day without early classes, training or sparring sessions, where the students of Red Fountain are allowed to sleep in and spend their day as they please and exchange their presents.

This was Gwen's first Christmas as it is a holiday not practiced in Inkiba except for the elitist 5%. The cultural shock was intense and unused to the traditions, she wakes up early and takes the chance to lazy about in the common area. The large Christmas Tree takes a main piece of the common area and Gwen notices the many wrapped presents under it. Not keen to the present exchange tradition and pretty sure none of said presents is addressed to her, Gwen sits down on the nearby sofa and enjoys the view of the pretty lights.

It is past 11 a.m. when the remaining members of Team Ox finally make their appearance, Isak revealing some unruly bed hair while Xanda sports her hair uncharacteristically loose.

Darien and Alarik make their way to the table nearby where a jug of milk and a plate of chocolate cookies make the rather unorthodox breakfast set. Darien, whom is also new to the whole "Christmas Celebration" thing, eyes the cookies suspiciously while Alarik serves himself a glass of milk and one of the cookies. Xanda and Warken make their way to the Christmas Tree instead, and start rummaging through the presents, Warken picking one supposedly for him, holding it up and shaking it while trying to guess what could be inside before actually opening it.

Gwen observes the scene with mild interest and fascination when she feels Isak coming at her from behind. He had spend the whole of last night putting strange head adorns on people, which she had been able to avoid, but it seems he was making another go at her. Sensing him getting near and being ready to swat whatever it was he was trying to put on her head, she was completely and utterly surprised when Xanda kneels in front of her and drops a perfectly wrapped present on her lap. Gwen is SO caught off guard, she just stares and fails to prevent Isak from sticking a pair of reindeer antlers on her head...
