Actually, you can go right on the property. It's a U.S. Coast Guard station and the Point Judith, Rhode Island lighthouse is accessible to the public, although you can't go inside. We visited it in June.

What would happen if you croped out the evil cars and fence? I know you wouldnt get the whole bottom part, but it might make the lighthouse look taller or something.....it might look better.... I think that is a bit wierd that a lighthouse is on the department of homeland security grounds...but you never know what those people are "protecting" thses days.
