- Gender: Male
- Species/ (or Theme): Painter’s Apprentice / Vengeful Knight
- Age: 12
- Birthdate: 2/26/1812
-Deathdate: 8/24/1824
- Height: 4’8”, 142 cm
- Weight: 72 lbs, 32.7 kl
- Eyes: Dark Brown
- Hair: Brown with orpiment pigmented tips.
- Color Scheme: Yellow hues with brown.
- Partner: Etherelle-RP
- Weapon: Giant Palette with Brush
- Battle Strategy:
King prefers to be at the front of the battle, especially when it comes to protecting his fellow apprentice, Leon. His palette is able to absorb a good chunk of damage, and he’ll normally use his brush-like lance when returning damage or supporting his allies. However, when working alongside Vermillion, the pair tends to take turns when dealing damage and supporting one another. If one partner is defending, the other is usually supporting or attacking. While King is willing to protect others from damage, its easy for him to get lost in temper or get annoyed, which ultimately leads to Orpiment ignoring his allies and rushing in headfirst to battle.
-Abilities:
Vapori di Vernice
King’s brush and palette are covered in paints that are highly toxic. Any attacks made against him or he makes against others deal bonus damage due to the poisonous properties of the paints. The damage is very minimal, as this is a passive gain.
Oli Ciechi
King thrusts with his paintbrush, splattering thick paint across his enemy and blinding them for a short duration. While blinded, they take additional damage from oncoming attacks and have a reduced hit chance. This ability uses an extreme amounts of paint, therefore he can only use it once per battle.
Vernice di Duro
The paint coating King’s weapons hardens, increasing their durability. King’s lance attacks with his paintbrush are able to slice through thick ornaments and armor. King’s palette becomes hard as a rock, reducing the amount of incoming damage he takes. While this ability is in use, King is unable to benefit from Oli Ciechi and Vapori di Vernice due to the changed properties of the paint.
- Magic:
Posizione di Difesa (Defense):
King hoists his palette in front of him and allies, reducing the amount of oncoming damage they take. King cannot attack while in this stance, though his enemies will still take a small amount of damage due to the paint coating his weapons.
Nuovo Inizio (Healing):
King can paint over his wounds to create a temporary solution to an injury. The paint will harden and help sustain his body for a fight, but he will have to take the time to heal normally afterwards, leaving him unable to fight for the duration.
- Weakness/ Critical Hit:
Water- Water will wash away much of King’s paint, which practically renders him useless until he’s able to accumulate more, which will slowly regenerate over time.
Critical Hit- Orpiment is specifically prone to attacks that leave him short of breath. Anything that involves him being choked or unable to breathe will immediately put him into a state of shock and completely vulnerable. Even after the state of asphyxiation has ended, it is likely King will still be in this position and unable to act for a long period of time.
- Berserker Mode: n/a
- Partner Combo: n/a
- Likes:
Though growing up in such a prominent point in time, King has always been a sort of snob. He’s hated that he’d always been forced to paint when his true passion was sculpting. Despite that, he enjoys a few many things, such as cats, a flavorful pinot, and new brushes.
- Dislikes:
He dislikes people. Its very hard for King to get along with others who don’t have much in common with him, even when they are forced to work together. He’s always been a bit of a grump since separating from his family. His temper makes it even harder for him to work with others.
- Personality:
King is a very opinionated young boy. If something doesn’t go his way, he’ll definitely make his discomfort known. He prefers things to get done in a timely manner and is willing to resort to any means necessary in order to get there. That being said, King isn’t a very shy person despite his apparent displeasure of others. Talking doesn’t bother him in the least, especially considering its what get things done. Though he’s a very brash young fellow, he’s particularly fond of his apprentice friend, Vermillion, and tends to soften up around him. King rarely shows his kind side, unless he feels particularly close or indebted to a person. He tends to get very worked up when it comes to his past or Leon’s due to the brutal nature of their deaths. But then again, that’s just his temper in general. His fighting style tends to put him in a position of leadership among his allies, as he’s not afraid to be in the midst of the battle. His history has forced him to become quite independent at a young age, which makes it very hard for him to open up and trust others. However, when he does manage to trust or befriend another, he indulges in them fully and will repay them with an equal amount of respect. His heart, at times, can be as hardened as the paint on his brush. Growing up in a family that used him for income and being disrespected by the hands of his old painting master has caused him to grow distrusting of most, all but Vermillion. King isn't particularly smart despite being a good speaker. He often turns to Leon for advice or when it comes to problem solving, as King's way of solving an issue tends to be with violence.
- History/Background:
Falvio Veleno was born to a poor family outside of Venice, Italy in 1812. Due to his parent’s stature, he was forced to do manual labor at a young age to help put food on the table. His family consisted of his mother, Louise Veleno, his father, Pavario Veleno, and his little sister, Isabella Veleno. The Veleno’s were able to put Falvio through basic schooling in hopes he’d be able to make a bit of a career for himself. It is there that Falvio discovered his passion for sculpting. He was able to make small vases and creations for a bit of money for his family, but they quickly discovered his craft and pushed him to be an apprentice. Against his wishes, Falvio was forced to be an apprentice for a French painter by the name of Armel Tuer. It was here Falvio made great friends with Armel’s other apprentice, Porfirio. Though Falvio despised painting and ever wished he could be sculpting great creations, Porfirio made each day tolerable, even as they watched their master spiral into madness.
Armel had laid his entire life on the line for the Salon of Paris, an exchibit of art where its entrants, if accepted, would be celebrated as renowned professionals. He was he, Armel Tuer, who hoped he would secure a stable future for himself through this show. But with each passing day the Salon de 1824 drew closer. For the past decade, each of his submitted salon pieces had been ridiculed and rejected. They were criticized by patrons since his paintings looked lifeless. After the terrible events of the previous Salon, Armel grew more and more desperate.
Armel could never seem to get one of his paintings perfectly right, and for days at a time he would lock himself away in his room out of despair, leaving his apprentices, Porfirio and Falvio, to their studies. To keep themselves occupied, the pair would set up easels across from one another and paint eachother for practice. They learned quickly this way, and the pairs critiques and advice drew them ever closer as their skills ripened. However, it was during one of these studies that Armel stumbled across their little study sessions, and was struck with a plan. Stunned by the ripeness and youngness of his apprentices, inspiration struck. Armel sent his senior apprentice, Falvio, away from the city in search of raw materials to make new paints; cinnabar for vermilion and large amounts of orpiment for the yellow hues needed.
It was during this time Falvio was completely unaware what was going on at home in the studio. He spent days gathering new materials despite the growing closeness of the next Salon. Afterall, the materials used were highly toxic, and had to be gathered in careful quantities from the nearby towns. By the time Falvio had returned back to the studio, Porfirio had disappeared mysteriously. Despaired by the disappearance of his fellow apprentice, he continually asked Armel where Porfirio had gone off to, but was often rejected with insane or maddening mumbles from his master. With the arrival of the Salon, Fulvio simply opted to wait until after to press the issue further.
On the 24th of August, later that month, the Vernissage of Salon de 1824 would open. Falvio and Armel arrived, hoisting in the new painting that would hopefully win the patron’s support. Soon after the opening, the painting was finally unveiled. It was then that Fulvio was able to piece together the mystery. The painting smelled rank; less like the hues and stenches of the pigments he was used to, and more like the rancid smell of human flesh. Despite the lack of face on the painting, Falvio knew –exactly- who, and what, it was. With a wavering voice, he shouted,”Dear God, that IS Porfirio!” The crowd, who had been laughing at the piece, grew silent, and soon after turned on Armel. They, too, realized the same fate that had befallen the poor apprentice. Armel, clearly mad and raging with disbelief, vanished from the Salon before he could be chased down, dragging the poor Falvio behind him.
It was a flurry of action and fists after they arrived back home. Falvio was able to escape for just a moment, tossing buckets and satchels of paint behind him that he had bought just a few days earlier. It certainly slowed Armel down, but not before the raging master found his apprentice hiding in the supply closet. The mad painter threw the spilled paints in with Falvio and locked the closet shut.
The toxicity of the materials slowly choked the small boy to death, and with every breath, Falvio could feel life seep out of him. It also seemed to anger him greatly, as though being in the small-enclosed room drove him just as mad as his master. Armel screamed through the door as Fulvio choked to death ever so slowly, damning his last apprentice for ruining his chances and his masterpiece.
As Falvio’s eyes reddened, as spittle and paint dribbled from his pale lips, his body went limp against the closet door. The screams of his master faded, and he swore he could see another figure through his tear-ridden gaze. Perhaps it was simply the stack of cleaning supplies, or perhaps an angel had heard his dying prayers. Falvio could hear the sweet call, an enticing offer sweep over his ears. He responded in short gasps of breath, wishing he could change his past, before everything went dark.
It was too late by the time the authorities found Falvio’s body, covered in paints of all different colors. It was unlikely his family ever got word of his death, and his body was buried in a dirt mound on a random hillside in France. By the time Armel Tuer was captured and convicted of murder, a boy elsewhere awoke as the one they call Orpiment.
TL;DR:
Falvio was born in a small town outside Venice, Italy in 1812. His family was very poor and depended on their talented son, Falvio, for a future. He showed incredible artistic talent at a very young age, so he was sent off to France to be the apprentice of a French painter by the name of Armel Tuer. Though Falvio was indeed very talented, his true passion lay in sculpting, one in which he secretly continued to partake in. Everything seemed great before the pair realized their master, Armel Tuer, was slowly losing his mind (due to lead poisoning) to stress caused by his repeated failures of being accepted into the famous exhibit of art known as the Salon. He is constantly critiqued for the lifelessness in his pieces. Without confirmation of his skills as an artist, he cannot win the favor of commissioners or receive work to help support himself, his studio, and the two charges beneath him. With a deadline approaching, the stress and panic begins to compound for Armel and the boys beneath him attempt all the more to help him by singing and playing games, trying to remind him the goodness of life. The apprentice's attempts at inspiring their master only bring him to a terrible, terrible decision. Armel Falvio away to gather painting materials from a nearby town, all the while, Armel Tuer kills Porfirio out of frustration. Falvio returns, confused about his friend’s disappearance, but he still helps his master complete the work and carry it to the Salon de 1824, unknowing of the events that had taken place in his absence.. The painting is greeted with laughter and scrutiny, people pondering it’s odd nature, but the first to realize the truth is Falvio. Falvio points out that the painting is, indeed, the missing Porfirio, and the crowd goes wild with horror. In the midst of the chaos, Falvio is dragged back to the studio by an angered Armel Tuer. Falvio is able to hide inside a cleaning closet from his master, but the highly toxic paints, one of them being the raw materials of orpiment (king's yellow), slowly kill Falvio. On the brink of death, he hears the whispers of a Reaper making him a deal. Falvio wishes to go back in time so he could change his doomed future before dying. The painting of Porfirio is burned out of respect and Falvio's body is buried in a nearby hillside, seeing as his family was back in Italy and too poor to pay for anything more. Armel Tuer, their master, was ultimately convicted of the horrifice crimes and condemned to death. It was then that the boy known as Orpiment would awake in Limbo.
- Cause of Death: Poison, asphyxiation.
- Contract:
Rewind: King believes the reason he was lead to this demise was because his family forced him to become an painting apprentice. He believes his life would have changed drastically if he would have stuck to sculpting and stayed in Italy. He wishes to rewind back to when his family chose to send him to France. King hopes to change course of his live from this point by declining his family's wishes and going by his dreams.

His face looks pretty mature for a 12 year old. But then again, I thought it was a girl. So...
