Technically, he's a meme that's circulated around the internet for a few years that involves editing comics and cartoons into looking creepy and corrupted and generally eldritch-horror style.

In my interpretation, Zalgo is the god of chaos and corruption - thus the play on the 'y'all need Jesus' joke.
