This is part of an alternate universe sci fi setting I am making. It is an alternate universe that deviated from our own in 1960, with the discovery of a crashed alien space ship. The Cold War never ended, and technology grew rapidly due to reverse engineering of the wreckage. The current year in this alternate universe is 2001, and it resembles a cyberpunk dystopia. Megacorporations rule the planet, and have also established colonies throughout the solar system.

Charlie is the main character, hence it being named "Charlie's World".

By the mid 1990's, Saturn Mining Corporation was the leading manufacturer of all things military. From small arms to aerospace accelerator cannons, SMC had no equal in terms of quality and reliability.

In early 2002, SMC released the "SMC-140", an advanced railgun. It propelled caseless depleted uranium bullets via electromagnetic coils, reaching over twelve times the speed of sound. Unlike other railguns of the time, whose electronic systems were prone to failure, the SMC-140 was known for its unwavering reliability.
