Description
This is an artwork that I have just completed. I think wolves are wonderful creatures and although from the real world I hope this composition implies an element of fantasy by the character's unusual friendship. The girl's crouched pose leaning into the wolf is designed to look as if she might run off away from the viewer and join the wolves rather than chose human company. I have made their eyes quite similar to also hint at this tie in.A big thanks to photographer Neil Chapman and model Samii for the photo that I used as reference when painting the girl.

Oh, Anne, this is absolutely wonderful ! It made me think of the wolf animal spirit from Native Americans, especially with the paw tattoo on the girl's shoulder !Β

Very nice. The title is interesting. My first thought after looking at the girl's expression was "who's really protecting who?" We tend to assume that the animal would be the stronger, but in fantasy (and reality), soft flesh can hide much.
