The ribs look like tree branches when it's frosty and windy. It's beautiful in a creepy kind of way...

It's not a super special car, it was just special to me. It's a chevy cavalier.

Why was it special for you?
I once had a car that was special to me too, an old Honda Civic, my first car love with lots of rust, jamming gas pedal and broken air regulation controler, so I had to put my hands under passenger's side cockpit and put my hand into many many cables and then find something I could push to change the temperature inside the car It also swallowed ridiculous amounts of oil and the fumes sometimes were blue You had to be used to this jamming pedal to be able to drive xD So this car was even more mine, because no one else wanted to drive it
Ahhh cars <3 And Chevies are beautiful! (And rare in Poland...)

Hmm I don't know why it was special, maybe because I went through a lot of difficult times in that car.
Wow you had a classic first car! lol!
I have another Chevy now, a Cruze.

Often when a skeleton looks like this, at least where I live, people dump the 'waste' parts of a carcass after they've cleaned out the intestines and got their cuts of meat. I see these all the time, no head or legs, and no skin/hide. I'm thinking some hunter got their kill cleaned it and left the 'junk' for nature to clean/finish.
This doesn't look like anything was wasted; all got their share.

Oh that reminds me too, I have a deer skull that is cleaned up that my dogs brought me from some where...It's kinda sad because it is a baby buck but it is pretty neat too, he has little nub horns and it almost looks like some kind of devil or something. I need to take a picture of it. They ate the nose before I found it in the yard, but the rest of it is in good shape.

Not sure if it was a car that hit it [I've seen people with shotguns hanging out of their car windows on this road], the title was actually referring to the drive I took when I saw these bones. Also that's my car right there.

mrcbax In reply to irrationalrationale [2011-04-18 02:27:13 +0000 UTC]

Hopefully? it was a car, If somebody had shot it, they surely would have taken it home for dinner wouldn't they? I thought that might be your car in the background Around here people take them home for dinner even if they hit them in their cars. I actually saw it once while I was on my hill. I was far away watching the deer cross the road, when a big ford expedition came squalling down the road and hit one of them. I watched the guy get out throw the deer in the back and continue on down the road with his bumper hanging sideways. I couldn't believe what I was watching. When I got down on the road there were brake marks and a blood spot on the road and that was all that was left.

People are weird on that road I see them doing what looks like hunting from their vehicles and I don't think they take the time to pick up their kill every time. And that is quite the story! I like to put my car in the background sometimes, I feel like it puts my presence in the photo.

mrcbax In reply to irrationalrationale [2011-04-18 17:08:10 +0000 UTC]

I have kinda strong feelings on that I guess...I enjoy hunting myself, but I'm pretty firm on you should eat what you kill, otherwise it defeats the purpose. Also people that don't have respect for the animal that feeds them are the people that make the rest of us look bad in the eyes of those that would stereotype hunters. I always feel sad when I see roadkill too, I always think at least if it was hunted it could have fed a family instead of decay on the side of the road. I hope that doesn't offend you as a vegetarian.

irrationalrationale In reply to mrcbax [2011-04-18 17:34:23 +0000 UTC]

Oh no I respect people's differences, and I'm not a vegetarian, I'm a vegan. It's even more intense, I don't eat animals or anything that comes from them like milk or eggs. And I find it admirable that you believe you shouldn't waste what you kill. And I agree that waste, like killing for kicks instead of purpose [like eating] is sad. I get sad when I see animals that have been hit by vehicles also, yet sometimes I still see beauty in their death like here. Kind of a sad beauty, but this creature has been dead so long it's sort of a beauty that's moved on. Imagine that, a vegan who likes to look at bones. I'm not against death, I'm just against the torturing of animals and the decrease in life quality that happens sometimes for instance on those big factory farms. Also eating things that could have once looked me in the eye is something I personally don't find appetizing. Hah!

mrcbax In reply to irrationalrationale [2011-04-18 17:49:45 +0000 UTC]

See I totally get that! If a cattle rancher/hunter and an intense vegan can respect each other's differences and be friends, why in the heck can't the rest of the world get along? I admit I've stopped and picked up animals that were hit but not quite out of commission yet on the road and tried to save them. Does that make me a compassionate hunter then?

irrationalrationale In reply to mrcbax [2011-04-18 17:55:02 +0000 UTC]

I think that makes you an excellent person! I don't know why the rest of the world can't get along. Bah, humans! Haha! Speaking of compassion for animals, last week I found a cat stuck up a tree and I fit a big metal ladder in that little car there [pull down back seats] and went and got him. Haha it was fun and a nice kitty too!

irrationalrationale In reply to mrcbax [2011-04-19 16:44:50 +0000 UTC]

Haha no I don't although I thought about it. I took him home gave him food and water and looked him over, he was well taken care of and clearly a pet. [My cat would have been furious with me anyway]. It was 10 o clock at night so I couldn't run around the neighborhood disturbing everyone, so I took him back and put him next to a house that was either likely to be his or very close to his house. People have indoor/outdoor kitties around here so that must have been what was going on with him.
