it has been stated that because of his history, how he was created etc. Shadow cant die from elements that humans or "normal lifeforms" can such as stab wounds, sufficient blood loss etc, because of his chaos control and everything around it, he goes into a comatose state and his body rapidly repairs itself. The only way he could kill himself is if his DNA turns on him effectively destroying his from the inside. creepy I know
