Description
The mission on the 24th of August 2009 and the Visit to York to see the great legend 60009 "Union of South Africa" was a failure, and we ended up with Class 47 "47786".So for your birthday I thought you should see her at York, like you should have done.
Of course that day was when I nearly died on "the hill" [link]

That train? It is polish construction from 1936 year, type Pm36-1.
Here is it's story in polish [link]
There were only two - one destroyed in war, the second still working. Now in museum in Wolsztyn.

I remember sitting on the southbound platform of Selby station one day when Union came in on the opposite platform with a northbound semi-fast for York.
On the spur or the moment I scuttled over the bridge and boarded the train (without a ticket). A journey and a thrill that many years have not dimmed.
Thanks for reactivating the memory. Oh - and Happy Birthday, Rob.
