I have recently played around a lot with the GIMP, and I thought I'd try to really edit something well. This image didn't fully appeal to me from when I took it. It was about 95% there. Thus, I have tried to make it go the full 100% there, with this editing. Hopefully it doesn't look too overdone. Here's a laundry list of what I did: masked the sky and exaggerated curves, colorized and desaturated, either dodged or burned the whole image in certain areas including the burning around mountains to make it appear as fog, and gradients on the corners.

If you want the old picture back, please, by all means, tell me

This is the first part of my "A Mountain View" collection

This was, of course, taken at Colorado a week ago. We were driving to our lodge and all of a sudden this amazing sight comes into view. (this picture was the amazing sight, if you didn't catch that ) So, as any of us would do, i stopped for a long period of time taking pictures galore! It was such an amazing sight, i'm so glad i caught it!
