An illustration of the Aeneid inspired by Leo and Diane Dillons' illustrations of the Iliad and Odyssey from the 60s- isablooo.tumblr.com/post/62339…I've been obsessed with these pieces so I wanted to do my own version but of the Aeneid instead, especially since it's my favourite epic! The main thing I wanted to channel in this piece was Virgil's criticism of war and conquest and how it only ends with hardship and sorrow, i hope that came across! I always found his subtle criticism of Rome really interesting
I had so much fun with this, it's been a while since I've done such a big piece with my copic markers.
