I love sheep and have put on some pics myself. This lovely Cheviot photo is very nice. I keep a small flock of Shetlands, rare breed Soays and ONE Cheviot. They're lovely looking sheep I always think.

what kind of sheep is this? we're learning about sheep and goats in my natural resources class and i know one of the sheep we learned about came from scotland.
excellent shot by the way.

Thanks

To be honest, I don't have any clue about what kind of sheep it is.
If you're learning about sheep you should know more about it than I do

i know right? i'll check my notes and tell you if that breed is in there because we only took notes on 10 different breeds and there are over 200.

woot! rock on sheep!!! dafad!!!

awesome shot! perfect background, it makes sheep seem like something a bit more... unusual? special? i dunno... but it looks good

IsaFortyThirty1 In reply to ali-musette [2006-08-28 22:11:48 +0000 UTC]

I made this shot on Iona, and as well as the rest of Scotland, Iona is full of sheep, so in fact this sheep isn't unusual or special at all...
But I know what you mean! I love this sheep and I think I love even more the background! It's really beautiful there!
Thanks for your comment and your ! !

i come from wales, which is totally sheep country, lol (dafad, welsh for sheep) no probs

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IsaFortyThirty1 In reply to ali-musette [2006-08-29 18:14:58 +0000 UTC]

lol! In Scotland I've seen more sheep than anywhere else, but I haven't been in Wales...
Isn't the whole UK a little bit sheep country??
Anyway, I like dafad!!

ali-musette In reply to IsaFortyThirty1 [2006-08-29 18:20:31 +0000 UTC]

yeah, pretty sheepish... but trust me, if it wasnt a dragon on the welsh flag it would be a sheep... only dragons look a bit more interesting and have a myth to go with it you get lots of wild sheep on the mountains, aswell as the ones in the fields...

IsaFortyThirty1 In reply to ali-musette [2006-08-29 18:29:58 +0000 UTC]

hahaha Yep, things like dragons and lions are always more impressive and interesting on flags, banners or shields than a sheep...

ali-musette In reply to IsaFortyThirty1 [2006-08-29 18:36:46 +0000 UTC]

but sheep make good cuddly toys.... thats the way it works... although, i must say we dont lack in red dragon cuddly toys either... you cant help but feel wales is trying to catch up on the world though... thats why it needs a dragon on its flag, just to get one better

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IsaFortyThirty1 In reply to ali-musette [2006-08-29 19:02:11 +0000 UTC]

haha . I guess you can make good cuddle toys of almost everything . Dragons, monsters, Nessie... When you are around Loch Ness you can't go shopping withoug getting overwhelmed by all these "Nessie" cuddle toys. But I must admit, I think sheep make better cuddle toys, because they simply are cuter...

ah, now the trick to avoid that, is by viewing the loch from the water itself trust me, when we went on holiday there we started by going from fort william to inverness on the water in a barge, and it was so peaceful and beautiful was great (apart from fort augustus which you could hardly move for the tourists) but then we went back to Fort William in a taxi, and you could see how many tourists were there! soooo much better from the water

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

IsaFortyThirty1 In reply to ali-musette [2006-08-29 19:28:20 +0000 UTC]

I think that's really awesome to do!!
We only stopped for a short while at Loch Ness and Inverness on our way back from Ullapool to Glasgow, but it's really touristy! It was incredible hot that day, so we cooled down a little bit by a dive in Loch Ness, and than continued our travel...

ali-musette In reply to IsaFortyThirty1 [2006-08-29 19:37:46 +0000 UTC]

well... we cruised up loch ness to Foyers, stayed over night and the morning then cruised on up to Fort Augustus and it tipped it down but ive done that twice, both directions... you dont want to stop in the actual towns for much longer than it sounds like you did...
