ye gads, since I have no photoshop or tablet,
coloring this traditionally by hand using diluted white acrylic is like...
trying to make gourmet spam out of a raw,frozen piece of pork.
(and no, I don't know how that analogy makes any sense
)One single slip of the hand, and it would have ended up dead.
But anyway, I'm happy with it. *coughDespitethe BS'edMaleanatomycough*
Like I said, Pakku, Bumi, Gyattso, Roku, Jeong-jeong, and Iroh are (c) to Mike and Bryan. This is fanart So don't nobody sue me please :3. They probably didn't even look anything like this, I simply took 'artistic liberties'
I think we'll all find out someday what they REALLY looked like...the day I can put my head between my legs and shout "CANONBAAALLL!!"
and oyeah, it took twice as many pounds of awesome Native Radio Chanting + J-pop music + Male Vocal orchestra instrumentals + Miyazaki music to ignite the supernova starburst of energy/inspiration out of me to color this as it did to sketch it owO;;;

I love the title. In Iroh and Jeong-Jeong's cases, their moral stances have changed for the better, and in all six of their cases, they've grown in wisdom, experience, and skill. It's wonderful to see the sighing old "I'm not all that I used to be, you know" saying subverted!

The point is, they were just a bunch of old guys who (at least in Roku's and Gyato's case) went six-feet-under before the start of the show.Β They're more than that.Β They were youths once, they had lives and had adventures like Aang and his friends did throughout the whole series.Β

I love it. It is a striking illustration of how time both heals and wounds all it touches, bringing us closer with each step towards our ultimate potential, and in the end, our deaths as well. But the road towards that final transformation is not the end at all. Matter becomes energy and energy becomes matter, a constant cycle as we too become the energy that will fuel the next generation, and on the cycle goes. Just as boys become men, and girls become women, potential is transformed into reality with time.

This is amazing. When I first saw this picture I was blown away. You were really able to take their facial features and age them down. It's not just a drawing of a couple of benders and in the description it lists tir names. You can actually tell its the younger versions of Pakku, Bumi, Gyatso, Roku, Jeong Jeong, and Iroh. This is practically canon!

i love how you put jeong-heong in a fire nation uniform since he was in the army!!! and he and paku do look so much like themselves!!! bump, gyattso, and roku didn't surprise me much since we've already seen them young

I'd wager that you drew most of their younger selves pretty spot on - especially Bumi and Roku - although IMO younger Jeong-Jeong looks a bit like an unscarred Zuko. Older Iroh's my fave though, just cuz of how intense his expression is... I don't think he ever looked that fierce in the show, but I'm digging it
