Description (repostin something I made a while back while I wait for photoshop in other computer to work so I can finish commishes b4 weekend.)

'I drew this in mind when I read an article some weeks back (which I want to find again, but I cannot find it???) I read about one woman who took her youngest daughter to see "Princess and the Frog" . Seeing her little girl make OMG!ENCHANTED!FACE and thinking the new generation gets to have Tiana while her generation did not.
This thought made her bawww in the theater.

I also bawwww while thinking of this.

It's sad but happy at the same time.
It's kind of like when I first saw "Mulan" the first time as a little girl. I was personally moved.

...

Because all the "issues" and some flaws of this film aside, I felt the movie and Tiana were made with sincerity and love, not just something to be marketed, which is important when bringing to life a story you want to move people with.

Princess and the Frog and Tiana (c) Disney
Fanart by me (because I love this movie FFFF)

EDIT: Guys, you are seriously going to make me BAWWW (aside from all the wapanese trolling on the front comments lol) even more with all these lovely stories you're telling me about your Disney memories. If only Disney knew how much good stuff like this is what lasts with their audience ;___;

This is absolutely too adorable for words!

It sucks that our generation didn't have a Black Princess, but i'm glad that the new generation has one!
That little girl is too CUTE!

Tch. This is how I felt when I saw any film, Disney or Bluth.....or Jim Henson. *cough* Labyrinth,-the-first-film-I-remember-becoming-infatuated-with. *cough*

When I first went to see the movie (lol, I saw it twice), my heart almost melted when I saw a little girl carrying a girl Princess Tiana doll with her into the movie. Can't remember the last time I've seen a little girl with a Disney Princess. I believe that The Princess and the Frog will be to this generation what the The Lion King was to our generation. The Lion King was the first Disney movies I ever saw in theatres (I was about 4 or 5 I believe).

Anywhoo, absolutely beautiful picture! I love how you drew Tiana.

It's always nice when little girls have a princess/hero like that. <.< I liked Ariel because I collect junk too XD ._. Though I played in the mud and threw horse chestnuts(still in shell) at my little brothers. XD Awwwww To be young again.

Aww this is so beautiful.

I think Tiana is such a great addition to the Disney ensemble; she not only shows that beauty comes in ALL shades she has so much personality and spunk. Easily one of the most charming princesses ever to grace the screen.

I remember being moved by Mulan, too, but it was because I was like "OMG her dad is in the military too!" (Well, her dad was drafted into the Chinese Army in time of war, but whatever.) So I totally related on that sort of level. In fact, Mulan is STILL one of the characters I identify with most.

Come to think of it, I liked Tiana a little better when I found out her dad was also in the military. XD I think we all like to see a little of ourselves in characters on screen, and it's great that Tiana gave more little girls (and even some of us bigger girls ) another wonderful personality to love and look up to.

Youre right, and I think we all deserve to have a disney classic to relate as well...I had the Lion King when I was a lil guy, farther up I had Brother Bear, it was like my favorite movie ever. And my lil brother actually resembles Koda...A LOT! xD

very well done!

I think you captured the style of the movie (though I've not personally seen it quite yet), and it is gorgeous. Add to that the sweet and realistic style of the girl's OMG!ENCHANTED!FACE, and you've got a moving little picture all on its own.

I cheer on Lasseter for his reopening the 2D animation department, and I have been eagerly awaiting this movie's release. It's good to hear that folks are enjoying it so much, and a ton of fun seeing the fan art and pleasure coming from it.

Thank you for sharing this. It's quite the lovely piece.

Thank you!

I really dearly hope that the executives in Disney at least try to make more 2D animated films with heart and less flash.

I wouldn't be so annoyed with Hannah Montana if it weren't so inherently bad and shallow most of the time. It's nice that kids like it, but if they're growing up only on stuff like THAT, it's upsetting.

I've seen it now, yesterday afternoon, and it was just as beautiful as I thought it would be. Shadowman went right back to the classic Disney villans and for me he ranks up there with Scar and Jafar (though he breaks the -ar theme). I have to say though...Naveen was handsome as a frog and not as a human, and Tiana was pretty as a human and not as a frog. It was very confusing to me Also, I now agree with my statement that I am Ray...lulz XD Still, an absolutely gorgeous film, and I can't wait to see more like it

I worry for the children who prefer things like Hannah Montana to these beautiful, very lovely films. I can't wait to have kids, so that I will (hopefully) be gifted with these beautiful movies on DVD (I don't really need an excuse, but I hasn't gots the money D

true that! I mean like.. the strong Mulan, the kind Cinderella, the hopeful sleeping beauty & the smart Jasmine (from Aladin) Thats what all little girls should look up to! not some slutty hannah montanah or many singers like that now adays..

satu-d-2 In reply to trevi-kikichan [2010-01-13 22:40:13 +0000 UTC]

I can only hope that girls out there look up to those classical Disney princesses, their strength and their determination. Even the ones that aren't technically princesses (Mulan, Jane, Pocahontas) because they're the ones I looked up to when I was a kid.. My kids will be raised on good old-fashioned Disney movies

Just for the record, Mulan becomes a Princess and Pocohontas is sort of a princess. She's the daughter of the chief of her tribe.

Wow. Joking the entire time. Well in that case, you have one awkward sense of humor. You do realize it offends people when you mock the language like that, right?(Not that it offends me as much) As funny as it might be to you, in your head, some people could get seriously pissed off. Hence the reason people say things like, 'JK'. Duh.
