In what way would she have to look to "look Asian" to you? Marge Simpson has yellow skin and blue hair and yet everyone assumes that she is white. If you KNOW that she is Asian, the fact that she "doesn't look Asian" shouldn't be an excuse to whitewash her. Even if you didn't intend to, it's incredibly insulting to the creators who have put so much work into getting an accurate depiction of Asian cultures and to Asians in general. (For the record, I am Asian as well.) I'm not trying to start a comment war, but please respect the ethnicity of these characters. The whole reason whitewashing is so offensive to begin with is because people of color are constantly stereotyped in the media and we're constantly told we're not good enough to be heroes. When we finally have a heroic character like Asami who can properly represent us and whom we can relate to, she (along with the rest of the cast) more than often gets whitewashed because she doesn't have slanted eyes or mustard skin or any of the stereotypes.
An "artist's choice" shouldn't have anything to do with this. I won't call you a racist because I really do hope you understand what I'm trying to get across here, but whitewashing itself is a racist act, plain and simple.
