I never knew how to take a pic of the moon.. when i tried all i could take was a white dot.. but a few days ago i came up with the idea of putting my camera into manual mode.. and there it is. My first great shot of the moon

Great capture!! I've been taking shots of the moon now for a whole year--I can't believe it's been that long!--and that was the trick I learned too. The camera meters off of all the darkness around the moon trying to balance it and so it comes out way over exposed with the white spot, but if you force the shutter to something between 1/125 to 1/250 of a second using ISO 100, then you'll get results like this. Full moon is tomorrow, hopefully you'll get some photos of that too!
