I really can't be the only person who did this...I have nothing but praise for Bethesda's Fallout 3. Really they were the only company I could see doing a successful 'nextgen' fallout game. There are of course always things to gripe about... like ungrateful bums who can never get enough handouts. (Though now that I think about it, that is kinda realistic...)

That is so true. Β When the bum asked for water I said no and when I stepped out of Megaton again found him lying dead. Β I felt pretty bad.

I used him for free karma actually, in megaton you can ask your robo butler (disarm megaton bomb) for water and he recharges it in a couple of days

I kept a stash of purified water just for the bum outside of Megaton

i have actually started a campaign to purge the entire game of NPCs
i started from megaton
actually cleaned it for loot
then blew it up

LOL I should have done this and put the bum out of his misery instead I gave him water and when i came back he was dead LOL oh well one less beggar right

the only reason i keep them alive is to keep neutral karma since im kinda an achievement hoarder

Every time I had to deal with people like him, I just kill him when my Karma is really high. Plus it's annoying as hell dealing with waterless hobo's. Even if it's a Fallout world, I expect them to at least ration it.

The beggar has a house labeled with his name, if you go inside there are loads and loads of purified water bottles there

Y'know, I was watching this Tenpenny Tower video on Youtube, and the character goes to Willy, who asked then player for watwer, and I noticed that the guy had practicly MOUNTAINS of bottles of purified water. What a scrooge!

i remember giving the megaton bum 18 purified water so fawkes would stfu and follow me.
And that kids, is how we steal, murder, and rape (well, ok no rape in FO, without a keen imagination..), AND become the messiah.

Yeah it happened to me by accident, I'd talk to him, wanting to gain karma, only to realize that I didn't have any purified water! and then the next time you go there he's dead!

He's only coded to die if you chose the most dickish way to tell him that you don't have any water, thus breaking his will to live or something, I guess.

In all my fallout games I have a character who kills everyone he meets, good bad, or somewhere in between. My water is my water, you'll get it when i need the Karma M!^&%&$
