IT'S BEEN 84 YEARS!!! Not quite, but almost. I'm one of the slowest artists ever... still an happy artist
I sketched this reference sheet on 4th November last year... I actually thought it was September, that's why I desperately tried to finish it in August... Anyway.
I changed a lot while finally finishing it. As I said I started at the beginning of November 2016 but I didn't start the outlines - I hate outlines. In March (!!) I outlined and coloured the full bodies but stopped again because of reasons... The reasons were that I didn't like the headshots anymore and my head always starts to scream NO when I know I have to edit and fix sketches and outlines... I edited them in March but I still didn't like them.
All good things come in threes, that's why I drew the headshots for the third time in April, finally I liked them and coloured them as well! 
A week ago I finally forced myself to edit the busts and coloured them. I also recoloured the headshots because the shadows of Avarus' skin were just wrong. I edited his face on his fullbody and I wanted to change also the shape of his eyes because they are slightly different by now., but at the end I didn't want to change them because I thought it's charming~ I added a few more details of his design et voilà~
At the end I have to say I'm very happy I didn't finish it a year ago. I learned so much not only artwise but also about Avarus' character.

Eigentlich warte ich immer bis zum ende, aber hier mus sich eher anfangen:

But ay what a good, handsome boy I love him sm ;3; I really love how detailed this is, I can tell you put a lot of time and love into it and it really shows!!
ALso, Averus, really, you don't care much about appearance tho you always look so great imo? I wish I could look good without caring about my appearance x'D! I've always really love his outfit, I dunno it just really fits his character perfectly and it all blends together so well!! And that lil rainbow bracelet is so cute!! I'm curious to know the reason why he wears it? Tho I'm sure I'll figure that out hehe ;D Also I love that you added some expressions, I like seeing more sides to his character, and that laughing one is just adorable oml

Oh yes, the rainbow bracelet one reason why that ref took me so long.. I haven't told yet why he's wearing it and where he got it from but it's possible that there are small hints within all picture ;3
I also really like to see different expressions it shows more variety of the character which is important if you tend to make always the same stupid expression like I do :'D And if you like expressions I have even more of his face~

Wow! This reference sheet is so well organized! Seriously, references can be difficult to format sometimes, and it takes a while to find a layout that serves what you're going for. This is great though! It's clear, well-organized, and it has all the important aspects people would look for if they want to draw him. A lot of people that I see when they make their first reference sheet either make them too cluttered or lacking in important aspects (myself included XD). But yeah, considering this is the first reference sheet I've seen from you, this looks amazing! Actually, it would still look great even if it wasn't the first I saw from you, it's just that since it is the first it amazes me more, if that makes sense. XD But yeah, great job with this!

I was happy when I was finally done with drawing and shading everything, but then it took me another day to organise all individual pictures. And I wanted to make a simple background because it felt so empty.
When I made that reference I thought about what I'd want to know when I draw a character. I care a lot about details and that also includes different views on clothing and accessories. But you're right at the end I also didn't want to make it cluttered so I didn't put much text on it, like I saw on some other reference sheets. I only wrote small notes where I thought it should be mentioned.

My commissions aren't open right now I'm not even sure if I open them again..
also I never really thought about offering a character sheet, since I spend a way too much time and effort into only this one. So at the end I would need to charge about 500€ to somehow cover everything.
But I'm flattered you like it that much, I spend a day to adjust every image and texts that it looks decent

I spend about 200h and more in this stupid damn reference sheet so, there is a reason why it's so clean :'DD If you have the patience or the problem that perfect hits you every time you see a mistake you can do it. last is me. Somehow I want to finish my stuff very fast but then I see a mistake, even if it's small I HAVE to eliminate it -3-

I love the idea of having a reference sheet for Avarus, and you've done this so well. The Avari all look amazing, and I like that we get to see headshots, halfbody and fullbody images of him.
The facial expressions are incredible. I must admit that the laughing one is my favourite, because I feel like he doesn't get to laugh enough.
I love the way you portray the textures here--you can tell that the hair is different to the leather of the jacket and to the shirt. I have no idea how you do it, but it astounds me.
Thank you so much for including all the details of his appearance, such as the closeup of his wristbands and the bracelet, and for giving us some outlines that we can reference.
You make me want to draw him, but I lack the skills . . . may I write a fanfiction instead?
Okay, now for the things I noticed about the way you've drawn Avarus. Firstly, I must say that I see an improvement, but I'm not always sure how to say what has improved--I can see the design of the face and eyes are the same, but there's certainly something different in the picture here to the one you uploaded in the stash. I'm going to try and identify what it is.
I see differences in the hair--in the outlines on this one I see there's a star like shape on the back of his head, where as in the others there's none. Additionally, I noticed that the design of the belt buckle changed and I love the skulls!
I also see that the new sheet is more elaborate than the old one...we now have the information and other details.
It's obvious you've gotten to know Avarus more, as you can tell from the selection of his facial expressions. You've chose sadness and anger and a head tilted down in both, but the way you've shown them is different and shows his character growth.

I guess it's because I use different kind of techniques for colouring on different textures. Clothes are usually very similar shaded but I add small details at the end to make if look different. I'm flattered you say so
The bracelet was a pain in the ass. You don't know how long I've been struggling to make it perfect.... But I'm so happy now and it is perfect for me
aaah please, never say that again. I love to see him in any kind of style also in yours. But I also take fanfictions. I don't mind at all to get both 
But seriously, please never think I wouldn't be happy about a picture just because you think you aren't skilled enough. You would draw my baby and that makes mama very happy ♥
The eyes and shape of his face actually changed. Both were more round, but I'm stupid that I forgot I haven't change the eyes in the fullbody at all... ok forget what I said. And the shape of his head isn't also any different from the sketch... Seems like the first coloured version of his fullbodies were also different from that sketch.

Yes, I also thought his crying face on the ref sheet is wrong, so I made them new. I also think I know him better than a year ago.

Ah, its easier to see the difference when they’re placed next to each other. I can see his chin is firmer on the right, and he’s also less chubby cheeked on the right.
I did. I tried to see where the differences between the sketches were. And, the wise monkeys were an awesome idea. I love how they’ve been incorporated into the design.

You definitely do. The way you portray him in your recent art is a bit different to the originals, and it shows how he has shown you more about himself. It’s actually an incredible thing to see happening in your art.

Sometimes I see mistakes after a day and then I fix them, but those are only small ones.
It depends. I often start seeing mistakes as soon as I learned something new and that mostly happens after a few weeks.

(This is one of the reasons, I probably never will get a tattoo)

ok, that's something which isn't a special art style for me, but rather something where I see someone understands anatomy. It really bothers me a lot seeing pictures where people obviously copied and pasted e.g. the eye to make the other one. It feels weird to look at it for me.

We get used to more symmetric faces though, because we see a lot of these phothoshopped ones!
But you are right: It is a bit weird!
Lady Mary is another good example. Her original portrait is quite asymmetric. But you see, what happens if you get rid of all the asymmeties: It totaly changes her character - you can't recognize the vicious warrior any more:
On the other hand, most of my pictures are probably a bit too asymmetric. They look OK as they are, but look weird when mirrored!

Maybe you, but not me. I don't get used to them, it just looks weird to me.
A side view can't be symmetric except you have a different definition of symmetric than I do 
The symmetric or asymmetric don't really give traits to a character, it's the way you draw her. Her eyes aren't so round, they are thinner and more sharp, her hair isn't just hanging down but flying in the wind. You portrayed her character by changing small details in her profile. And you fixed a mistake comapring your new and old picture. The old one had her eyes on one horizontal line but as soon as you turn your head they aren't on one line anymore. The eye which isn't facing to the viewer is slightly curved to the top, starting from the nose. It has the same height as the other eye but is smaller. The first Version of Lady Mary her eyes where exactly the same size. (Maybe that's what you call symmetric?)
Same effect when you see yourself on a photo. Your pictures don't become bad when you mirror them, you're just used to the original one than the mirrored one. If you would mirror it and stare at it for several days, you'll get used to it and don't think it's weird anymore. Our brain is very powerful and likes to confuse us with those small things
I don't know, I think she's pretty cool and without her makeup and her grimaces it wouldn't be Nina Hagen anymore. Or I would need some time to get used to the "new" Nina Hagen
