soft and sensuous, together with your loved ones

I'm done! I got sick and I was afraid I couldn't finish it in time! I worked so hard on the other three gifts so I wanted to make something simple for Christmas. But then I drew Saira and Avarus walking side by side. I thought about the Christmas market and I drew Thanatos. I thought I could add the other characters as well. Then it looked so empty for me so I added more details and and and ... Seriously, that's nothing simple. Why did I do this?
Whatever~

  Merry Christmas
to my friends, to the ones who take their time to comment my pictures, who are talking to me and to all the other watchers who are watching me silently.
to call some of them

I could also call the the names I remember who are faving every single picture I upload but that would be too many. So thank you to everyone for staying with me this year.

Oh and if you don't celebrate Christmas: Happy Holidays!

Enjoy!

yours,

hehe Yes, Krenar is there as well
haha yes, I didn't wanted to draw Gandalf but after I've seen that he looks like him I didn't want to change it because I like it.

I'm so happy I spotted him. And, there's nothing wrong with a little gandalf in the mix!

Trust me to notice a very tiny gandalf.

I'm still amazed that you've found him, I mean you only had my low quality picture here to look at and you still noticed him

I'm a LOTR fanatic. If there's even a tiny reference to LOTR I'll probably find it      Consider me obsessed.

Isi-Daddy In reply to CelestialInk [2017-01-12 06:55:42 +0000 UTC]

But it'sreally really tiny. It's ok that you obsessed but that also means that you look at every little tiny detail. I could show you sme details in a better quality if you like so you can see that it's more or less a parody of Gandalf

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2017-01-12 15:20:08 +0000 UTC]

Of course I look at the details. You're art is spectacular, so I look at every part of it.

You'd do that for me? I'd really appreciate that so much!

It seems like you're the only one who does look at every details. That's why it makes me so happy Thank you!

Yes, I would do that for you I usually don't share high quality pictures because of art thieves but it's good that deviantart has its stash because there I can upload it without any risk because only people who get the link from me, will see it.

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2017-01-14 06:03:18 +0000 UTC]

I really appreciate it Isi. I look a look, and OMG. The details. I love the writing on the Gingerbread hearts that says "Sweetheart" and "Kiss me." The toffee apples also look so yummy. And, are those meringues Thanatos is serving?

Also, I loved how you turned the stars and Christmas tree into electric lights. It looks so festive.

Also, I didn't realise Gandalf is actually a toy for sale. Now, I kind of want my own mini Gandalf for my shelf.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Isi-Daddy In reply to CelestialInk [2017-01-16 07:48:04 +0000 UTC]

aww thank you much! Of course there have to be Gingerbreads with "Sweetheart" and "kiss me", maybe Avarus tried to buy Saira one
I love chocolate fruits! I actually prefer bananas but I thought apples are more recognizable.
And yes there are meringue! You've spotted them!

Yes, what would a christmas market without any lights?

haha yes! Strictly speaking Gandalf is a smoking man. I don't know how known those are. It's actually a tradition here in Saxony. Smoking man, Pyramids and a Candle Arch.

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2017-01-19 17:50:30 +0000 UTC]

You know, this physic thing is starting to scare me.

I love chocolate fruits too. Banana is delicious, but my favourite is definitely chocolate mangoes.

I always spot the food.  And the lights are amazing.

I didn't know about that tradition. Could you please tell me more? You've made me very curious.

Isi-Daddy In reply to CelestialInk [2017-01-23 16:05:26 +0000 UTC]

this physic thing?

I never tasted chocolate mangoes but that sounds delicious because I love mangoes

Food is the best!

Of course!
So one day before the 1st Advent every one decorates their house with lights and stuff. In Saxony all that Christmas decoration is simple and discreet. I actually don't really like that much lights so you whole house is shining.
Let's start with the Pyramid www.erzgebirgskaufhaus.de/medi… as you can see there are candles and they make the pyramid's "hat" spin. You usually put those on a table while eating cookies, gingerbread and Christmas stollen, do you know that?
Then there are the Candle Archs. You put those into your window so you can light it up at the evening when it's getting dark so people from the outside can see it. cdn.erzgebirgskunst-drechsel.d… (haha I found the perfect Candle Arch because this one represents the city where I'm living with its popular Christmas Market "Strietzelmarkt") and that's how it would look like from the outside www.sauwald.de/wp-content/uplo…
And last but not least the smoking man. My father loves them he is collecting so many! While walking on the Christmas market he buys every year at least one smoking man. That's a typical smoking man www.kunststube.de/images/artic… You can take them apart. Take their body away you only have their feet left with a little tin plate on it where you can put a incense candle on it. Then you put the body back on its feed and he starts smoking through his mouth since those man are empty with a hole as their mouth. and almost every smoking man has a pipe in their hand or mouth.

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2017-01-24 16:45:11 +0000 UTC]

Yes. The physic thing. We will discuss it once I've sent the fanfic.

It is delicious. If you ever get a chance to try it, do!

That sounds beautiful. My sister is obsessed with Christmas lights. If she had her way, she'd put up so many lights that our house would be visible from outer space.

The Pyramid looks amazing. I adore wooden decorations like that. I didn't know that, but they sound delicious.  biscuits are my favourite snack, as evidenced by my Christmas fanfic.

The arch is such a beautiful tradition. I think it's wonderful that you make sure people outside can see it. I love that you found one for your home.

OMG, the smoking man is perfect! I adore the idea of Gandalf as a smoking man, since he's always puffing his pipe!

Thank you so much for taking the time to give such great explanations for your traditions.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Isi-Daddy In reply to CelestialInk [2017-01-30 09:40:57 +0000 UTC]

I guess we can discuss it now

Ok, I'll try it! I bought a mango this weekend but I had no chance to make chocolate fondue.

haha your sister would may like the christmas markets here

yes, I love those Pyramids! But everything is handmade so it is very very expensive if you buy an original Pyramid/candle arch/smoking man here in Saxony.

So this is a "Stollen" www.stollen-aus-dresden.de/med… it's said that Dresden (where I'm living) has the best Stollen ) but I actually don't like it. I don't like raisins and the citron in there. But it's still a tradition. I love nougat stollen but for no reasons I couldn't find any for some years

I don't have an cancle arch. Ok you could say I have one. A very very very very small one. Its length is about 2cm.

yes, that's why I made Gandalf as smoking man.

You're very welcome! I'm always happy if somebody is interested in our traditions.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2017-02-04 11:18:39 +0000 UTC]

Yep. You see I had the idea that Avarus bought Saira a gingerbread heart when I started the fic, and then you wrote in a comment that it happened!

Aww. That's a pity. Still, even mango on its own is pretty delicious, so nothing wrong with that.

If they have lots of Christmas decorations and lights, both my sister and my Mom would go bananas. They adore Christmas. It's our favourite time of the year.

Anything handmade is usually very expensive. On the other hand, the quality is usually better, so it's a bit of a tough choice between the two.

I would love to try some Stollen. My friend who studies German also mentioned it, but I've never been able to find any here. I must say, nougat stollen sounds amazing

So cute! I tiny arch. And Gandalf!

I love learning about the traditions of others. Yours sound so wonderful.

Isi-Daddy In reply to CelestialInk [2017-02-07 09:37:06 +0000 UTC]

Haha yes! It's really a great coincidence that you start writing it and I uploaded that little sketch comic where he bought her one.

Yes, I love mango! Next time I buy one when I'm visiting my boyfriend because he has my chocolate findue

Oh they do! Look www.dresden.de/media/bilder/st… that is the so called "Striezelmarkt" the most famous and loved Christmas market in Germany. And that's in the city where I'm living. But that's only a little part of the whole Christmas market.
I can tell you, that your feet will hurt if you're done with looking at everything. They also have a "Mittelaltermarkt" a market which looks like from the Middle Ages. It sells their drinks in kind of leather cups and also has wonderful dresses! And the food!! Gosh, I love the food their.

That is true, but I like the handmade stuff from here more than others. That's why I want to buy one of those big Pyramids one day. ♥
So I don't mind that it is expensive.

hehe if you ever come to Germany I'll show you everything, also the food.

aah I wanted to show you my tiny arch! I hope I remember it this evening.

Do you have any traditions which you love?

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2017-02-09 17:14:01 +0000 UTC]

It's that weird telepathy thing we have going on.

Tell him to give back your chocolate fondue. Then you can have lots of chocolate fruits!

I am in AWE that looks so spectacular! And it's only a small part.    !!! I can beleiev you'd get sore feet from walking all over that place. But the things there must be so amazing.

Wow! A middle ages market!    I would adore seeing that and drinking from leather cups and eating the food. And my Mom would love it as well. We tried to get into Medieval re-enactment here, but the events were too far from where we live, sadly.

Handmade stuff is always amazing. I love going to the little flea markets here and picking up some things. If you ever do get one, I'd love to see it!

I would love to see it all. And best of all, to see you in person!

I definitely love the traditions we have. We have a special cake that we bake on New Tears with a coin in it, so that whoever gets the coin gets the luck for the year. And, when we have a Christening, we hand out candy coated almond sweets as gifts for the guests. They're called boubounaires, and they're also given out at weddings:

quickcreations.com.au/wp-conte…

easyweddings-wordpress.s3.amaz…

Easter is what is really big for us Greeks. I can tell you more about that if you want?

We should stop that telepathy thing, it's going to scare me

haha yes but I'll visit him next weekend so I can make chocolate fondue while he is at work

Yes, it's very huge and there is so much to see here! It's always worth a visit! Sadly last year there were police everywhere after that one incident in Berlin. A truck driver drove into the Christmas market and 9 people died so they wanted to make the last days of every Christmas market save.

Oh that's so sad! Here are many Medieval festivals not only to the Christmas season. We have also a big Middle Age market which opens for several days a year. You can watch knight fights there. And there are smaller festivals on our castles with little markets and bands who play medieval music. It's always nice to visit them~

I promies you pictures so here we have my little candle arc and the little candle arc and christmas tree and this little snowman with skies was a present from my mother.

hehe yes, I would love to see you in person too!

Ah yes, I know that tradition with the coin in it. I've learnt about that in my English courses. I love hat tradition. We have also a new years tradition. It's called lead-pouring. I guess you could know that.

and the boubounaires looks delicious. but also like little stones.

Sure! I would love to know more about your Easter traditions!

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2017-02-19 12:42:49 +0000 UTC]

It is getting a bit scary, I won't lie. But it's fun as well!

Let me know how it goes. So I can be jealous of the yummy fondue.

My friend was telling me about that. I'm so sorry to hear that.   Still, the markets do sound amazing, and I would love to see some of them. It really sounds like an incredible experience.

Medieval festivals? Middle Ages market?     WOW! Now, I have to go there. I'd love to watch knight fights and visit castles. If I ever went there I would carry around a huge notebook and write down every detal so I could remember it all.

The mini candle arch and Christmas tree are too cute. And I adore your snowman.

I haven't heard of that tradition? Can you tell me more, please?

They do look like stones!

Okay, so generally preceding Easter, as it is a religious festival, we tend to fast. Fasting can come in different forms. You can either go completely vegan for 40 days, or give up a food you really like for 40 days. Or you can go vegan the entire week preceeding Easter, or give up something that you like for a week. On Good Friday, we have this Church service, where the epitaphio is brought out:

www.google.co.za/imgres?imgurl…

which represents the body of Christ. As the service continues, the boys from my old high school carry the epitaphio around the church, and the congregation follows it, carrying candles. Once we complete a lap around the church, the service is over. On the next morning, there's another Church service where we take communion. That evening, there is a church service at midnight, where the bells are rung, and we call out "Christos Anesti (Christ has risen))

Then, we go home and break our fast with Chicken lemon soup at midnight. We also dye boiled eggs red, and break the eggs against each other. Whoever has the egg which doesn't break is the winner.

We generally also have a large Easter lunch with the family on Sunday. . Lots of food:

I feel like I may have told you this before . . .

That is true, scary and funny

If you want to get jealous I'll send you a note with pictures

Yes, a friend here on dA asked me if I was there but I'm living about 4h away.
The markets won't lose their shininess and awesomeness just because some people think it's ok to spread hate.
I'll still visit them every year

Yes Medieval festivals, Middle Ages market and castles. You know that one time there was a festival at my birthday and the band there asked if somebody has birthday and my mother pointed at me and all I wanted to do is hiding myself   it was so cute they sang a song for me.
You may know now where I mostly got my ideas

You don't know that? That's a little funny because its method originates from ancient Greece.
I saw that it's also called Molybdomancy. (I don't know which is more common to use.)
Lead is melted on a stove and poured into a bucket of cold water. The resulting shape is interpreted as an omen for the future. Sometimes it's rotated in a candlelight to create shadows, whose shapes are then interpreted. Most of them are interpreted symbolically: a bubbly surface refers to money, a fragile or broken shape misfortune. Ships refer to travelling and so on. I got a heart, of course it was something luck-in-love but I already have my love at my side.
A friend of mine got two shapes out of one lead sculpture and both said she is going to have a great success and peope are going to be jealous of her. But it seems that I should have get her shapes because I already succeeded and two of my friends told me that they are jealous and not in a really friendly way. Of course they said it in a friendly way but the intention was something else. I never felt so uncomfortable.

Ah yes, I heard that there are some people who fast during Eastern! I just couldn't remember who are the ones. >.<' 40days without my favourite food I don't know if I would be able to do it but I heard it's very healthy
The epitaphio looks amazing! And Chicken lemon soup sounds delicious I want to eat it too!
Wow your tradition sounds amazing! Now I'm really hungry, the thought of fasting 40days made my stomach mad

We celebrate the simple little tradition where we hide eggs and sweets and the children have to find them. But it's possible that in some regions in Germany people are also celebreating Eastern like your people do.

After you told me about your traditions my questions may be a little superfluous but I hope you don't mind anyway. Are you and your family Christian? (I hope that's not to personal because I know religion is always a very personal topic.)

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2017-02-25 15:55:11 +0000 UTC]

Definitely.

Send me the note, please, so I can let Envy out for its walk.

That's good. And, it's great that you still will go. You're right, things like that won't change just because someone thinks it's okay to hurt others.

That all sounds so amazing. And it's so sweet that they sang to you for your birthday!

Wow! That is incredible. I love the idea of predicting omens from melted lead (and of course the Ancient Greeks would do it--they also predicted the future from dead birds. So, I saw a joke where these two Greek guys looking at a dead bird, and the one asks "so what do the guts say?" "In the future there will be less birds.")

You may have me pestering you with questions on this tradition--I want to use it in my story.

That is really uncomfortable. Have you ever heard about something called the "evil eye?" It may apply here . . .

It is very healthy. And, yes, very difficult too!

Thanks so much. The Friday service with the epitaphio is my favourite. As for the soup, I'd love to share a bowl with you one day, Isi. And break the red eggs too!

We do that as well. I did it for my cousins last year. I love eating all the chocolate eggies.

I don't mind at all. I'm Christian, but specifically, Greek Orthodox, so we're a little different. But then again, the Greeks are always different so no surprises there.

O didn't take photos because it was too delicous to stop So I can't make you jealous.

Nothing will stop me from buying chocolate banans on the Christmas market!

yes, it was sweet but also embarrassing.

OMG that jove with the bird But he couldn't no if there are really less birds, there could be some eggs somewhere.
I also love that tradition, it's always nice to do it even if I ruined my mother's tablecloth because I put the hot spoon onto it. I forgot that I hold it above a candle.

aww I'm happy I could give you some ideas for your story. I drew Avarus and Saira while melting lead.

Yes, I've heard of the evil eye. There is that saying "if looks could kill" which I used a way too often.

That would be great I would love to join your tradition one day.
So you're having two Eastern tradition. But of course first you fast and after that you eat all the chocolate

hehe the Greeks are alway different. I like that. What's different from Greek Orthodox to "ordinary" Christians?
It's funny, I'm not religious in any kind of way but it seems like all of my closest friends are. And what I like, almost all of them are Christians but they still have other views and believings. That's really interesting.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2017-03-12 15:42:19 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for not making me jealous over that. I appreciate it!

Oh, gosh. That sounds so deliscious. Oh, look. Hi Envy. Where've you been . . .

I'm glad you like the bird joke. My ancestors were weird as hell. Incidently, the island where my gran came from . . . in legend, the women of the island all killed the men because the men were useless . . . it might account for why all the women in my family are hotheaded and stubborn.

Oh dear . . . the poor tablecloth. Still, it's a tradition I'd love to see for real. And, you'd be more than welcome to join in ours.

Yep--the evil eye is the idea that jealous people send bad vibes towards you, which cause bad things to happen to you. That's why we wear evil eyes or turquoise stones on necklaces or bracelets. It keeps away the bad energy.

Yes, that is a summary of how our Easter works.

Well, there's the evil eye, and that we're alot more connected to the saints. We pray to the saints first, and then ask god. We also have our services in Ancient Greek, sometimes.

It is very interesting how Christianity has changed and adapted to the local context.

haha you#re welcome!

I'm sorry to call your inenr Envy again.

omg! Who needs men anyway? We need something to look at!
Possible but I guess it isn't wrong to be hotheade.

maybe, one day you can join my tradition too.

hat's great. Maybe I should get an evil eye then so people stop being so mean because of their jealousy. I don't know if I get one here.

So the evil eye is a bigger thing for you then? That's interesting I didn't know that this little saying I use very often has an important part in religion. Tell me if I got too far with my questions... I'm just wondering if you also only believe in one true god? Especialy for Greeks it must have been a big change back in history since Greek mythology had almost a god for every little thing.

That is true I guess Chrsitianity isn't the only religion which has changed to the local context.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CelestialInk In reply to Isi-Daddy [2017-03-21 11:31:24 +0000 UTC]

It's okay. I'll deal with my inner Envy.

They can just be there to look pretty.    They don't do anything useful.

Nope, I guess not. But, I once asked my Mom and sister which of the seven sins represents them, and my sister said it was between sloth and wrath. So I said "You're an angry sloth."

I'm sure you can . . .

I'll let you know if you go too far, but I don't mind you asking.   The Ancient Greeks had the Pantheon and multiple Gods, but the Greek orthodox believed in the one god for a long time. Apparently Saint Paul was the one who converted us. I'm sure my ancestors  were a bit confused at first . . .

Nope. Most ideas adapt to the contexts where they're found.

If somebody read the last two comments will think we are sexist

haha an angry sloth

The internet has everything, I should get one there

ok thanks, because I really don't want to be rude.
Oh shame on you Saint Paul for confusing the Greeks! I can imagine that it must be a hard time for some Greeks but maybe some other thought it would be logical to have only one god.

Yep, that is true and I think it's really wonderful except for those who start thinking they are the only ones...

Accessories--so I can have Greed on one arm and Thorin on the other? And change them to match my outfit?  (I'm crying with laughter here.)

We all fell over laughing at that one.

Great. If you do get one, send me a pic. I'll send you pictures of all mine . . .

No problem.

Apparently, the Greeks had a Shrine to an unknown god (just because the Greeks were scared of offending any gods that they hadn't met yet) so Saint Paul explained that the Unknown God was Jesus . . .

I know. I love seeing how the same idea can vary over places

And you're right. That's exactly where the problems start.

omg! Are they hanging at your arms then? And please tell me you have something pink to wear!

I'll do! And please, show me yours I would love to see them!

haha so Saint Paul was like "Just give that unknown dude a name!"
So the Greeks were open minded for new god but I still can imagine that it must be hard for some to say I stop believing in the other gods, for me there is only one god now.

Yes, it's really sad... you know my boyfriend's niece said "We need to get rid of religions, then we wouldn't have any problems." A couple of days before she said that I read it myself somewhere on the internet. I thought about that statement and for me it's bullshit. I told her that religion isn't the problem but people are. It's ok to believe in any kind of god or not but most important is to not use it as an excuse for your actions which could cause pain to others.

Right, when I get home, I'll take some photos of the evil eyes I have and send them to you in (yet another) note.

Pretty much. He just said--the Unknown Dude is Jesus.

Exactly. It must have been a big change. Especially since there is now only 1 god, and if he doesn't like you, you can't ask anyone else for help.

I agree with you. I don't think it's the religion that's the problem--most religions promote tolerance, kindness and love. It's when people within the religions become fanatical and intolerant and use religion as a way to hurt others that we start having problems.

Oh and I know how he convinced everybody to like him: "You know, this dude can turn water into wine. Better be nice to him!"

that sounds pretty hard, even for now. I would be very lost. But since I don't believe in anything and also believe in everything at once I don't have that "problem".

I see why. But we can be lucky to not live at that time even if our time isn't that much better...

that is true but unfortunately not everyone thinks like that. Some believers are a little to fanatic and think their believe is the best and no other should be allowed.

Okay, I should marshal my drawing skills and start sketching!

(Grabs tissue box and gives it to Isi.)   Please don't stress. I know you're really busy at the moment and going through some tough times. There's no rush to read my stuff, really (and my stuff is always so long, so I know people need time.)

Exactly. I also wouldn't like to live at a time when women didn't have rights . . .

Then we have wars and things like the Crusades, and people die for almost no logical reason. That's a very saddening thought.

yes, go sketching!

yes, some of your stuff is pretty long, but I've read your fic four times. So I should be able to read your other writinsg as well!

oh yes...
It's always sad when innocent people die for nothing like a few days back in Manchester (UK)...

Hehehe

There's no pressure to read my absurdly long fics.   I know you will once you have more time and these exams are over.

That was so horrific. The fact that they attacked a concert full of children.  It's sick . . .

yeah, a Christmas Market is a typical German tradition so of course I can go there every year :'D I see how much you would enjoy it there :'D
Yes, it was horrible.. no I'm not near that market, it was in Berlin and I'm living about 190km away. But I'm living in the city with the most visited Christmas Market so I was lucky that they haven't attacked this market. I went on "my" market two days after the attack and everywhere was police and they put so little concrete barricades around the market, everywhere where a car could crash into the market. It was really horrible, only a few days before Christmas, 12 dead and about 52 has heavy injuries. ._.

awww thank you! I feel honored I could inspire you. I just love details in pictures, I know they can be annoying but I do them more and more often and you get used to them <3 So good luck!

hehehehe you'r every very welcome!

That's so cool!!! *w*
In here, at least the town I'm living now make a lot of events during the year. This year they made a carnival :'D but I didn't go... it was late and I was tired xD but I would love if one day they could make a Christmas market like you guys *w*
Oh no... ;-; random attacks are not good. I'm glad you're far away from there, but always be careful. Specially if you say that your market is the most popular.

Yasss!! <3 True! I want to draw more details because one day I'll get used to them too xD thank you!!

haha cool! the Christmas Market is every year from 23rd November until 23rd December. It's a whole month everyday a whole day long! I hope you can visit a Christmas Market one day! It'S really worth it! *v*
Yes, I am careful but sometimes you can't see things coming. :/ It's really sad but luckily the attackers are caught.

Weeee! Then good luck! Details are fun and annoying at the same time but at the end you'll love your pictures even more!

This is such an incredible Christmas picture!       I'm so happy you finished it! I can see why it took you so long.

Saira and Avarus looks amazing. I love their coats and I half-want to reach into the picture and grab them.   Also, I like how the two of them look like a couple without being all lovey-dovey.

Avarus looks sexy as always.

The food in here looks amazing--toffee apples, gingerbread hearts, biscuits--now you're the one making me hungry! I adore the lighting effects in this picture, and the amount of Christmas decorations everywhere.

I love all the cameos as well. Thanatos is running the stall with the word "sin" on it, Laneia is walking behind Saira and Avarus, Darya is also in the background as well as Zilia, and I think I spot Peggy and Makoro as well.

It's a beautiful picture, and I hope you have a spectacular and amazing Christmas!
