Interesting how other people interpret the older woman as the mother - I had thought she's the older sister. Either way, I really like how you depict this scene. The picture tells a whole story.

Absolutely stunning composition. I really love, how the lady is standing her ground, to protect her daughter, as the little girl, is clutching hold of the trails of her dress; and peering around her, as the soldiers are approaching. Also, like the small dog, which is also looking over to where the commotion is coming from. I also like the smoke rising, as though the village has been set on fire, by the soldiers. A very visual piece, which also tells a nice story!
