A long abandoned artwork which i have finally managed to finish. I saw this particular screenshot from the Superman Returns blog #17. It showed Superman floating in the space, looking down at the earth. Basically the same idea like mine with different perspective.The costume has been updated to the recent Superman Returns version. I read somewhere on the internet that there is no "S" on the cape, so i didn't include it here.
Notice that the city background is similar to the one in "Soars" artwork, only this time i flipped it from left to right. It is also a 'reverse' version to the "Soars" artwork. Where as "Soars" depicts Chris Reeve's Superman "leaving the earth", this one is showing a new Superman descending from the sky. Kind of poetic huh?

nothing beat the original costume by Ditko. I think this new costume is just for temporary, i don't really like the design, though it's pretty decent

I'm not going to lie to you, I do plan on asking a LOT of people to come and join! This iste is amazing but you really have to dig through a lot of stuff to get to the really good comic related pics and it can be quite tedious. The crit forum at comicbloc is one of the friendliest and most supportive on the net and if you are any kind of comic fan, I guarantee that you have been entertained by at least one of the professionals who grace the site with their presence. Geoff Johns (who helps run the site) and Kurt Busiek will both be writing Superman in a few months and they post there fairly often so there will be a TON of Superman fans at the site in a month or two (as if there wasn't a lot already!)
If you do decide to join up, I'd totally appreciate it if you filled in "Brian LaBelle" as your referrer but please don't feel you have to mention me on the site or anything, it won't win you any points with anyone and joining is more than enough thanks for me. I will say most people there don't really dig having to click on links so if there's any way you can directly your post your pics there first and then build up a little following who WILL come check out the pics here, I'd recommend doing that.

yes, mostly in photoshop. i create all the necessary maskings on CorelDraw, export them as EPS to photoshop and begin all the painting stuff. The base for the work (the body) was generated using Poser

Your style reminds me of the first set of Marvel Masterpiece cards from the 90's. This is great work. I love how your using the vintage styling of these characters.
