/facepalm staples!
I've been whining to myself that I haven't got enough room on my stump leather loops to hold all my tools. And I've been staring at archeological find lists for months. And they _all_ have staples and brackets. And thanks to this picture, it's finally occured to me to make staples and slap them into the stumps. 9_9 I herped so hard, I derped. So thanks for posting this, it's going to improve my life.
Also, what's that hardy tool tucked in next to the base of the anvil there? It looks kinda like a hook? Is it a bending tool?

I hear ya! The tools and the setup for them is always a constant evolution. This particular a setup is for doing public demonstrations. I wanted to keep it simple but also have some kind of display so people could see the tools. Otherwise I would have used a bucket
Thats a hot cut that pops into the hardy hole. I used some 1" tubing welded to a triangle piece of tool steel.

Oh, herp a derp. Yeah, I've got a hot cut, I just didn't recognize it. Neat. I just reforged the blade on mine- some doofus (me) wasn't paying attention and tried to cut cold steel on it a while ago. 9_9
Hahaha, just finished a half-dozen staples to hang all my hammers. Suddenly I'm not dropping one or two hammers off the stump every time I turn around. thanks again for the inspiration.

Upon seeing this, I added an anvil to my Christmas wishlist. I'm captivated by this image.

I'd do some dirty deeds for an anvil like that E_E
Speaking of anvils, do you or have you ever used Japanese style forging hammers?

Ooh, I meant the ones with the offset handle though, I'd really like to get my hands on one.

I have seen some smiths use those, most of em have been swordsmiths of the sort. Id be curious to see how they feel

I imagine them to feel somewhat like a maul, front heavy, but I think they are held closer to the head than "regular" hammers so that probably balances them out. I just like the idea of that extra little bit of weight forward of center, and of course the clearance they provide.
