hey it's no problem!!
well first off, just practising and experimenting with colours will help you develop your own style and skill! I tried a lot of different kinds of colouring before I got something I really liked.
FIRST THING OFF I use mostly copic markers, but this method works with prismacolours as well.Β
For me personally, having lighter, pastel colours is the MOST important! I use light colours as a "first layer" colour, and from there I add on stronger or brighter colours. It's kind of almost like applying several coats of paint!! I go over the same coloured area several times before I get something I'm satisfied with.
To make the colours more interesting, I recommend shading with different colours depending on the colour pallet you're using.Β
I'll use this pupper right here as an example:Β i.gyazo.com/6109214eae1c6c30dfβ¦
For her colour pallete, I used a lot of Β warm colours; yellows, oranges, pinks and purples. On the lighter-coloured areas, I used a combination of yellows and pinks. There's also a few accents or purple thrown in as well! The ear is also similar, I first coloured it with a layer of orange and pink. For shading, I used stronger pinks and purples.
It definitely helps me that i own a lot of colours hehe,,it might be harder to combine colours like that if you don't own many markers, but it's still do-able!
I mostly just recommend getting lots of practice, I've been using markers for years! i hope this helps a little B)

SORRY I HAVEN'T REPLIED TO THIS!! I forgot that I could keep comments in my notifications after I replied. x-x
I'll definitely do some experimenting very soon with my markers and see if anything neat can come out! I hate seeing them lay around without being used for so long, I'm excited to try 'em out <
This is so handy, I can't tell you how much I appreciate that you took the time to write out some tips for me ;o; Thank you so, so much!Β
One last thing! Do you use blenders at all? I have a couple of different brands of blenders but are they even necessary to use to make marker work look good? <

AAA it's no problem!! i do the same thing, i am the Master of that
actually personally, i've never found any use for blenders?? this may vary for markers, but for copics i've never had to use one! carol (hauntedhomo) says she uses them sometimes to blend two colours that are really different in shades, so they may be useful for that, but they don't do much for me : >

You two are so sweet and helpful!!! I'm so glad I met you two :"D
I didn't think they were all too useful, I've looked up a couple of tutorials for blenders but it seems like you could just bypass using them entirely! Thank you very much again!!!
