I was experimenting with lightning in GIMP...Obviously, based off "The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku": [link]
And actually, I've used Audacity to pitch all of Miku's songs to a level where I think Danny's voice might be... So I'm actually listening to a "male" version as I do this... XD
... Oh come on, you can't tell me you didn't know this was coming!!! ;D
Anyway, there are a few things that did NOT turn out like I wanted, but overall, I'm pretty happy with this...
And yes, I DID use Google translate for the Japanese, cuz I suck and don't know any... XDDD

I have, actually, though they're just pitches of Miku's voice. So, basically, I imagine him as having Mikuo's voice right now... XD I'm not quite sure what he would really sound like, but as those were basically the first versions I started listening to, I've kind of gotten attached to that being his voice... XD

I like Mikou's voice a lot. He's my second favorite gender bend right after Akita Nero. I like the fact that Mikou sounds a bit shota. His voice is like an older Len to me.

YAY. Just... Thank you. You have no idea how happy you made me with that last sentence. XD I think that Len is TOTALLY cute, but because he shares a voice bank with Rin, he's just a bit too high-pitched for my tastes... So Mikuo seemed the better choice, especially over Kaito, because Danny IS supposedly prepubescent, after all... ;3
Plus, I imagined Danny as having only a slightly deeper voice than Len... And after various experiments, I've found it's easier to pitch a girl's voice down to a teen guy voice than it is to pitch a mature-guy voice to a teen's voice... XD

I've heard that now it can go either way in contemporary use... However, I will definitely keep that in mind. ^_^

Progress or decimation of a culture. I was talking to an audiologist in my ward (? He does the cochlear implants), and he said he usually didn't talk to people who were fluent in sign language because by the time they're fluent, they see the implants as an attack on their culture, which I thought was interesting, until I realized he was totally right. Is destroying another culture in the name of advancement really progress? Just food for thought. I kinda see it as similar to a modern Manifest Destiny, except not physical, but societal, if that makes any sense at all. /deep spasm of deepness>

It doesn't necessarily have to be the decimation of a culture though. I'm sure there are those who would believe they could get the implants, yet would still wish to retain their culture. Rather, I think that the cultures would mix and then form a sort of new culture on it's own. Isn't that rather what happens in the US? Many immigrants do not completely abandon their home cultures, but without an understanding or integration of the other, wouldn't we be creating the very racial barriers we try so hard to avoid? More food for thought. ^_^ We could have a banquet of sorts, I suppose. Gosh, I wish you could have been in class with me when I took literary theories... More so, I wish I had a written record of everything we talked about because these issues were part of it... Including the role of culture in our ideas of race, and what problems those present... And that race is not, in fact, only one thing, but rather a component of many different ideologies or ideas, to the many of which we contribute.

I just don't see how it isn't... but then again, I'm not in that situation, so I'm not going to be ableist and try to say how it is or isn't. That's not my place as someone in a hearing culture. My point is, from what I understand, that there are two kinds of deafness: Physical, and Cultural. They don't always intertwine, and if someone who is culturally and physically deaf wishes to remain so, who are we to try and make them hearing?
Granted, though, the deaf/hearing cultures are different from national cultures (US, Japan, Mexico, etc.). I see no reason why we can't put Japanese toppings on Italian noodles, so to speak. In that case, the cultures do mix, and it can be beautiful. But at the same time, look at the cultures that have been wiped out by our imperialism... Native Americans, much of Africa...
