Nyctophobia: Fear of the dark.

''(First) have you seen the state of the electric bill?!'' Levi your boyfriend of two years screamed at you - recently you had just moved in with him. ''I-I'm sorry, Levi. I just forget to turn it off''

It wasn't that you forgot to turn the light off no that wasn't the reason. The real reason was that you were petrified of the dark had been since you were a child your parents thought that with age it was disapear but they had never been so wrong it clung onto you like a plague and being twenty one years of age you wasn't going to admit it to him.

''Tch, how can you forget every single night?!''

''I-I don't know, I'll pay for the extra money on the bill'' Levi sighed and ran a hand through his raven black locks he bent forward placing a small chaste kiss on your forehead ''I'm going to work I'll be home late, please just remember to turn the damn lamp off'' all you could do was nod in response.

As soon as you heard the door close you collapsed to the floor taking in deep breaths in an aid to calm yourself it wasn't as if you could just tell him you couldn't live the embarrassment and knowing Levi he would scoff at you deeming your behaviour as being childish and stupid. A heavy sigh passes your lips.

It wasn't your fault you were scared it was a fear that developed and just didn't get any better - the dark scared you it was as if you were staring into a deep abyss with no escape no matter how hard you clawed you couldn't pull yourself out. It was Satan's resting place spending every waking hour of the night locked away from the outside world a sense of there being no future in your life always feeling out of touch with the world around you, it's a horrible feeling being trapped in the shadows and light was the only solution.

You could consider this being you just over reacting but when its a phobia the whole idea of it being irrational becomes rational - well it seems rational to you at least.

Tears burn the corner of your (E/C) eyes, questions circled your mind.

What are you going to do?

You had no clue, you couldn't turn the light out it was your only salvation in the dark world that consumed you that made your very being tremble. You took a glance out the window it was already getting dark outside - time was against you, you needed to find a solution too this problem.

With another heavy sigh you pulled out the sketch book that was tucked neatly under the shelve on the coffee table when you needed to think you opted to draw it stopped you from chewing your nails. The pencil danced across the page you let your imagination take over you drew a huge monster to symbolise the darkness you made it look down right terrifying equip with huge teeth and drool hanging from it's mouth.

You went crazy with yourself - drawing yourself as a knight in armour a gleaming sword in one hand and a shield in the other, perched upon a stallion, you would stop every now and again to giggle at your work it was child like but it help calm your nerves. The sound of the door opening caught your attention you flipped the pages back to one of your older sketches to save yourself the embarrassment.

Then realization hit you, had you really been drawing for such a long time?

Taking a peak at the clock it was 12:34am eyes widening in shock you had been drawing for the past five hours and not even realized. ''(First) why are you still up?'' Levi was stood by the door to the living room you innocently lifted your sketchbook and scratched the back of your neck with your free hand ''I was drawing and I guess I got caught up'' you chuckled softly.

''Well hurry up and get your ass into bed I'm fucking exhausted'' you complied wordlessly, stripping out of your clothes and pulling one of Levi's hoodies over yourself and climbed into bed Levi followed not long after you had your back to him facing the lamp that sat on the bedside table you were calm until Levi lent over and switched it off leaving the room in total darkness.

Levi mumbled a quick goodnight before he fell asleep he was tired from work the vast amount of paperwork he had to do took a toll on him. You took in a deep breath shakily exhaling your grip on the pillow increased each passing minute, the solution for this problem was in arms reach it would only take a small stretch of your arm and it would be over but that would cause Levi to walk up and chew you out.

Five minutes - your body began to shake from the anxiety you bit down on your hand to stop the choked whimpers leaving your throat soon you could taste iron in your mouth. Again you tired to calm yourself down by taking deep breaths but it back fired instead of taking in a long deep one it ended up coming in short intakes of breath, panic started to set in if you didn't calm down a panic attack would be inevitable.

Levi started to stir, grumbling he sat himself up ''For god sake can you not - '' he stopped mid sentence when you shot upright and began to tumble for the switch to the lamp. Levi looked at you questionably he had never seen you act like this and it worried him, he reached out to place a hand on your shoulder only to have you shriek and pull away.

Levi turned the lamp back on it was only then that you started to calm down taking in deep breaths your panic stricken eyes scanning the bedroom. ''(First)'' he spoke gently trying to coax you to look at him, when you didn't he cupped your face he took note of the small tinges of red that were smudged on the left side of your mouth.

Upon realizing what had happened you pulled yourself away from him ''I-I... I-I'm sorry'' you climbed of the bed, Levi held onto your wrist stopping you from leaving he gently pulled you back down onto the bed, closer to him. ''(First), are you scared of the dark?'' you couldn't hold it anymore you started to sob into his shoulder clutching onto his night shirt for dear life. He once again cupped your face wiping your tears away with his thumbs.

''Why didn't you tell me?''

''Because, it's stupid and childish and I didn't want you to laugh at me'' you hiccuped and started to cry again. ''Tch, idiot I'm not going to laugh at you. Am I laughing now?'' you shook your head ''Exactly''

He lead you into the living room and got to work on the bite wound he cleaned it, wrapped it and even placed a small kiss making you giggle softly. ''Wait here'' Levi left leaving you to sit on the couch eyebrows knitted in confusement - What was he up too?

Around ten minutes later he trudged back into the livingroom he took you by the hand leading you back to the bedroom he opened the door.

The room was filled with a soft glow, he had wrapped the fairy lights that you used for christmas around the headboard of the bed the light was gentle and not as harsh as the light from the lamp. ''Enough gawking, get your ass into bed'' you let out a soft laugh and climbed back into bed. Levi wrapped his arms around you drawing you closer to him. ''Thank you, Levi'' placing a small kiss on his lips you then nuzzled into his chest letting out a content sigh.
