I'm wondering if you have seen the original cover (2 in 1, 2nd print) for the RPG Space Opera (1980) by Fantsy Games Unlimited, [link]
I think if it had been you that did their cover, their sales would have been ten times what ever they were.
In terms of the comments you are looking for.
Of course you have female forum down perfect, 10/10.
I'll start with the hexagon glass frames, I think the hex is a good choice but in this image you are right, it's dark, too dark. If you suggested a thickness by showing a thin sliver of grey reflection like you have under her sword hand, it would be truer. Direct sunlight is very very blinding, so I see a lack of realism with the black fading to black when you have internal lighting reflecting as grey. Also what you have with the stars visible behind the sun is a mixture of night and day, like the mistake I have seen where people put a full moon in the same frame as a setting sun, the alignment is all wrong.
I'm wondering if the sword blade was meant to retract. I love the elegance of the hilt, but it looks two-handed long, and therefore suggests the blade should be longer, perhaps angled out farther. also her stance suggests the angle of the blade and from the angle of the blade I get a suggestion of a rapier because it looks so thin.
My first impression of her face is to be reminded of a babyfaced Reese Witherspoon, which is great, love it, but the Repunzel hair swinging around requires either some very fast neck swivels or very low gravity. If it were prehensile I would get it, but the S curve doesn't make sense to me.
I like the metal of the gun, but it looks very old school, like Flash Gordon, and I'm reminded of a cake decorating icing gun.
I don't get the head dress, it reminds me of the musical symbol for the treble clef, but at the end of extentions, like you took large ear rings off her ears and used them as anntena. At first glance it appears innovative, but upon pondering it becomes a confusing mix of function and forum.
I almost agree with the comments about the armor. If you were going for black leather then it's great. If you wanted more sci-fi type armor, then you could always have more technology, not as obvious as a pipboy 3000, but suble suggestions of being more than a garment. I'm guessing from your first sketch that it's not all leather, so I'd say there is something off if both different materials look the same.
also the multiple angles of light reflection almost get confusing, since they are fuzzy in places. but if there was really that many lights they would be closer and reflect sharper. Some of it looks airbrushed on afterward, and don't match the other sharper details.
The non-simple floor pattern would have complimented a simpler outfit, but with all the glare off of the armour it instead enhances the confusion of the glare. yes complexity is a personal choice, but at a certain point you can cross over into or approach too closely a kind of schizophrenic chaos (Louis Wain Progression [link] ).
I agree with the comments that suggest that your work belongs in the magazine Heavy Metal, but honestly your work is far superior to that flat comic book style of drawing.
BTW, your original sketch should have been published in the Space Opera core rulebooks, back in 1980, perfect match for their artwork style.
I didn't see a date you posted a critique, and I'm pretty new here, so I hope you don't mind if it is very late.

Would you accept a commission to do another work with this character?

This is such an amazing piece, I must ask - is there a backstory? Will we ever get to see more of her?

I do not see anything wrong with this. Not too dark. A fit, good looking blonde in a skimpy outfit, and armed to the teeth will always look good. You have the light reflections and textures just right. IF, anything is wrong, it is the way she is holding the sword (the fore finger and thumb should be further forward). Apart from that, it is great.

Wonderful, love the shine and reflectivity, the sparkle on metal, the one issue that really bothers me is the shadows and lighting from the light behind (they show on the surface of the floor, but seems to not show enough in the appropriate way on the legs. The retro style is highly attractive, though I'm sure that's not to everyone's taste. (^_^)

This is an awesome piece and does capture that "Leia-esque" feel from Jedi. Jedi was somewhat dark as well and this pretty much nails it. Great piece.

I think its a great piece of work also. I do agree with traveo2343 that there is a variance in the design between the left and right upper boot. The vertical line is longer on her left boot up to the hex and the circle and t design within are visably different between the two. The upper roll edge might just be a lighting and perspective difference but it also bothers me a bit. These are minor issues, however, in a highly creditable piece of work. More along the same lines would be appreciated.

It makes me think of something I'd see in Heavy Metal Magazine, the promise of sex and violence and so much more. Though I think you could go a little more realistic on the armor if wanted to, as long as it was bad ass looking then it would still be sexy. Rule of thumb anything hot and bad ass is sexy.

I say itβs definitely better than Leia chained for Jabba. It makes me think of the cool covers they have on Heavy Metal Magazine, dark but oh so sexy.

This is amazing work. The only thing that I might suggest as issueous is the boots, the flare above the knee is noticeably different in size. I'd still comission it though. Very good work.

Definitely one of the best pictures on Deviantart. You are an awesome artist! I love this picture!
Alone the details of the background are fantastic! All the Stars and the space makes a excellent atmosphere of dark space and far-way-in-the-stars feeling!
The Girl in the "Special combat dress" is beautiful, the sword is an exzellent work - and i love the Pulp-Space-Pistol.
So... now lets go to the negative Things on the picture... erm... wait... To be honest, i am a very, very critical person, but by all goods of space, i dont finde something to grump here. So take this: This is one of the very, very few pictures on this little blue planet, where i dont find anything to critizice.
Thanks , that you share this masterpiece with us

Thanks a lot for your comment! Truly, I usually prefer comments that criticize hard my works, because they let me improve my technic; but I'm really grateful for your good opinion and the rest of people who like them!

Wow. You painted something that I am writing about. I must have stolen the image-idea from your brain. That's a touch weird.
I want to be her, just beautiful and strong and sexy and - my favourite of all - massively impractical. WIN
