Description
Varril just joined the Great House Hlaalu and apparently they can't decide whether they're cool with their members being cold-blooded killers or not.To be honest, I'm always a bit reluctant to carry out assignments like this for these people because you can never be quite sure if someone is going to doublecross you or not. So, I had a bit of a panicky moment when I returned to Nileno Dorvayn and she acted like she didn't just send me to assassinate a guy five minutes ago. I was almost happy to realize that it was simply a limitation in the game engine and not a conspiracy. Almost.
Also... If House Hlaalu wants me to off somebody, would it be too much to ask that they'd tell their guards not to chase me around the town afterwards, eh? Though I guess it's a good business plan to pay the fellow 1000 drakes for his services and then have your own guards arrest him and demand 500 of it (thank the Divines for Thieves Guild discount) back as a fine. It's hard to be an honest delinquent in Morrowind.

Some things they made better in oblivion, but other things they simply *killed*. I still prefer Morrowind for many reasons, although it had his little flaws.

Really? Oblivion's physics engine beats the living crap our of Morrowind's. I greatly disliked that I could be swinging a blade at something at my feet in Morrowind, and it could kill me because my blade skill wasn't high enough to hit the thing at my feet.
That was happily fixed in Oblivion.

See this is why I go to Larrius Varro first and then just use taunt on all the Camonna Tong.

Well Morrowind is a sneaky little game for all. It took me ages to figure out which order I should do quests in if I didn't want them closing down on me and being unable to complete. And the stealing! My God, I was the worst thief ever with my stealing.

That's why I just steal gold, in moth Oblivion and Skyrim. (Speaking of Skyrim, my current gold count is 375k, as a result)

OK...I LOVE Varril's hair, but you know what's better? His face in that last slide. But seriously they made Morrowind politics so...strange....

I usually taunt the guy until he attacks me, so it's self-defense instead of murder
I'm more worried about the sexual harrassment from Creepy Uncle Crassius, actually.

Yeah, I always forget you can do that...
I must draw a comic about Crassius one day, lol.

If you do, be sure he's super-creepy. Even Creepy Uncle Belethor can't compare to Creepy Uncle Crassius.

Hmmm... But they were Hlaalu guards and I was doing a quest for the said house. Would've been cool for them to look another way.

AngelsKarith In reply to Isriana [2013-11-07 23:32:00 +0000 UTC]
hmm that makes it worse sense their guards of the house your working for they should look the other way but do they nooo
I also hate it when I do a crime and the only ones who witnessed it are animals who SOMEHOW inform the guards of said crime -_-
though my dark elf characters sneak skill is so high i can stand right infront of people or walk past them even Falmir and they don't notice me its hilarious

Aha yeah, that's the reason why I'm avoiding those kind of quests ! You can also try to provocate him in order to get attacked, and kill him (and then it will not be a murder! lol)

So NPCs are no brighter in Morrowind than they are in Skyrim, huh?
I'm sure a few years from now when I pick up Morrowind to play, I will enjoy it as much as I did Skyrim. I love it when NPCs do this sort of thing to you.

Level up Illusion and learn the Frenzy spell--there's no bounty for casting it on them and none for killing them because they attack first. Though oddly enough, I just did this quest not long ago--ended up killing everyone in the tradehouse in fact--and didn't get any bounty for it. :/ I wouldn't put your version past Hlaalu though. "Kill the murderer! What, you murdered someone? No, we don't approve of that--have some gold. But I'll need half of it back to pay off your fine." <_<

Good to know. Oh wow, that's weird. I swear I was alone upstairs when I backstabbed that guy and I still managed to get bounty... Oh well.

I think I shot him with a bow--maybe it didn't trigger the crime report even though everyone in the bar immediately entered combat. It happens occasionally. :/

Guess the guards share the same intelligence everywhere... including chasing you across half the country.

I think that's how the guards usually get most of their money. But I think you were supposed to taunt the guy until he attacked you. Or kill him without anyone noticing; House Hlaalu doesn't want anyone thinking that the house murders.
But this is funny and sort of true. I love your artwork.

Isriana In reply to SenorDisasterMaster [2013-11-06 13:04:05 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I forgot you can make them attack you first... I put my best effort to the latter option, but alas, my low level nightblade didn't pack enough punch at the time. I was alone when I backstabbed that guy yet I still somehow managed to alert the people downstairs.
