This is quite interesting. It looks like crashing waves that have shaped themselves into two great trees. Or if you focus solely on the center, it could also look like a pair of wings. I like these types of dynamics in abstract artworks. So much can be seen if you just look.

Glad to see that Thierry was cool enough to recommend this as a possible candidate for a deviantART Daily Deviation.
And with that suggestion, it came to be.

Neat! When I saw the little preview picture, I thought it was a couple of plants that grow near the sea or something.

I've tried looking at this cross eyed and the results are ambigous at best. I take it the manipulation mainly consisted of adding a reflection of the original to one edge. There are, examined at suitable magnification, regions on this set where neighbouring structures are similar enough to make real stereo veiwing possible. AureliusCat put one up recently: [link] . That one really does look convincingly three dimensional when viewed with the cross eye method and there have been others, intentional or not.

You are correct about this being a reflection. I had never really considered the stereo viewing aspects of fractals - very interesting. I know Mark's (AureliusCat) work very well and he does have some pieces that are very symmetrical, with a lot of 3D elements in them, that really would lend themselves to this type of viewing.
Thanks for pointing this out!!

Fractals... or a cross-section of an alien life form that looks like a mushroom made completely out of bone tissue? The world will never know!
