We all know that Pumba was hanging around the Pridelands before Timon bumped into him. So I suppose Mufasa ran into him one day, when he was particularly hungry. (He's a Lion after all!) But before Mufasa locked his jaws around the back of his neck, Pumba suddenly unleashed his..ahem, you know (not in front of the kids). Suffice to say Mufasa gave a wide berth to Pumba after that day.
It all came around when Pumba became best buddies with Simba and helped him reclaim the kingdom years later. Talk about fate!
