Description
Someone on Tumblr asked me how I did my last Paperman piece so here's a step-by-step animated thingy.I used the pen and watercolor tools on SAI and mostly with default brush settings. I think the key was different colored outlines? As you can see the original lineart was actually done in black and the lines are actually very thick, changing the outline colors according to the base colors help make the outlines more subtle. /sorry if it doesnβt make sense.

do how this could be done in photoshop? if notΒ Can you do Β me a huge favor? How did you complete the CG/3D effect while keeping in 2D. How did you shade/highlights the skin/clothing and to make it look so 3D. thanks

Wow, that's really neat to see!
Do you happen to know how long it took to make this? Even an estimate would be nice.
Ah, that's just so cool. Seeing the process is always so interesting.

Thanks! Ah I'm actually quite slow, all in all this took 5 hours? The most challenging bit was the lineart because I couldn't be happy with what Meg's face looked like.

Ah, yes, lineart can be a pain. But thank you! I'm certain the hours spent was well worth it.
