I know her chances are slim. But that's irrelevant. The fact is, your comment was rude and uncalled for.

JohnTehJoker In reply to dracori [2008-02-20 03:57:29 +0000 UTC]

Big deal. It was called for to the extent it's a political image that's pro-hillary, and I'm expressing my dislike of her. Considering the fact most people go out of their way to swear at me about Bush in the first place, consider my comment obnoxiously sincere in comparison. I've got real reason to dislike the person in the portrait, and I can state them in a far more civilized manner than most. Take it, or leave it. To note, the best thing to do normally is ust to move on. You make yourself look stupid when you shake your head at those you deem stupid, becuase often times you don't know the whole story, and even more so you'll often times just flare up a fight by making the person enraged. Besides, i said that in a fairly monotone manner, of which ou wouldn't notice online... One of the internet's many downsides unfortunately.

I think when the person asked for advanced critique, they meant critique on the photo, not your personal opinion of the person in it. But hey, if you want to go on flaming people, that's your right I guess.

JohnTehJoker In reply to dracori [2008-02-20 04:09:20 +0000 UTC]

If I was flaming, I would have said "HILLARY CAN BURN IN HELL!" not something like, "the subject of the picture is not very good." I feel the person is wasting their time and skills on something so common, and often times severally hated. Even if it weren't for her husband, Hillary is NOT a popular, or very well accepted topic. My comment and more points to it than you realize. He should maybe try taking a different perspective and try to capture the audience, or things less noticed. If I have to break the comment down, I will, but to be honest I ws hoping just to speak and go leaving whoever to take the comment however. To say a thousand words when you can say a few, often times only wastes time becuase the general public will take things as they see it. A world of many unqiue views. Besides, I also said this becuase the artist has an agenda. If you don't believe me, he's taking pictures of two candidates with similar approaches to the same things. I'd appreciate it if you stopped trying to turn me out to be some random troller when if anyhting you're the one trolling me! >_< so much for a quick in and out...

Word. Obama gets a free pass in the media, but if Hillary so much as sheds a few tears or shows a little cleavage then people go batshit. It's pathetic. And I hate to play the gender card, but I too think it's because she's a woman, and a strong one, too

A wonderful image! Your framing is perfect and you managed to catch her without a silly look on her face, which is hard to do when someone is speaking. I could definitely see this in a book about "Hillary's rise to the White House," if it were to happen.

My only comments are that it seems a little yellowish-orange, though that may just be my monitor...but I would have bumped the blues a little bit. And I would have liked to see Bill in a bit more focus, even though that would be hard to do indoors. He looks like he's either blinking or asleep, neither of which is good...and more focus would either make that better or worse.

Elandain [2008-02-20 00:39:35 +0000 UTC]

Okay, so. For a moment, forget that this is Hilary Clinton, and look at it as a photograph. Which is what the "look at it as art" whiners are asking us to do.

It's nothing special. This picture wouldn't be anything without the political baggage attached to it. It's like telling someone to see the Statue of Liberty (not comparing Hillary to Lady Liberty, by any means) as an asthetic piece of sculpture and engineering, forgetting all meaning attached to the image. It's impossible.

honestly; i think everyone should keep their political opinions to themselves and stop being so cruel about this being a DD. most disagree with it because they simply don't like her. this is about ART. it wasn't as if the ARTIST said this should be a DD or wanted you political views staining comments where PHOTOGRAPHY critique belong.

to the artist, i'm sorry some can't grow up and appreciate MORE to this photo than they were willing to step down off their own pedestals and recognize.

you should be proud of your accomplishment; i hope you can just ignore all those who are, more than likely, jealous their work hasn't been honored.
it's really in interesting capture. i hope you can take that in and ignore all the annoying buzz aroudn it

It's a great shot and the angle with her husband in the back really solidifies it.

Even the red outfit against the dark base background supports this image.

These two are smart enough to work in legendary "power coupling" mode. Many people try to fake it but can never pull it off because they are simply too weak.

And why "the maneater" ..weird. Why anyone would call her that!? With a woman like that at your side you can't fail.

We'd all be lucky if Mr. Inspiration "B. HUSSIEN OSAMA" lost and she took the helm of the worlds most powerfull and before Bush, "respected" Country.

I mean Americans won't let Bush vs Gore happen again and obviously see the insulting joke here with just this guys NAME right ...HUSSIEN OSAMA! I mean the republicans will use whatever they can to keep control ...like Conilingus Rice, Colon Powel ...(insert another black guy here)

Anyway politics can get little people like me excited, so sorry for the "yabity blab"!

Amazing photo!

carvingbackbone In reply to RyanZ720 [2008-02-20 00:18:52 +0000 UTC]

ermm... it's oBama -- not osama, and Condoleezza Rice, not conilingus ??
i agree with you about hilary...but the black comment; i think you're sorely wrong and that the republicans (even if i can't stand them) are the only one's fair enough to accept blacks -- it's pathetic anyone else hasn't. i don't see that at ALL as a means to keep control, and it's rather offensive to hear (even as a white person, non-republican to hear someone say that)

i agree with you comments about the art, too, buuuut you may want to keep your political opinions to yourself -- especially if youre not even going to get CLOSE to simply getting their names right

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RyanZ720 In reply to carvingbackbone [2008-02-20 01:07:03 +0000 UTC]

Ya think!?

Is that his name Osama ..i mean O"b"ama! I just think everyone is too eager to sing coombaya ..and the republicans know it ..and have no moral apprehension about abusing it.

You seem like a very intelligent woman so you have my respect, but did't it seem a bit strange how C. Powell disapeared. I understand his sense of honor did'nt allow him to go on.

That's all debatable as really and sadly all things are but we know that Americans are spending around $200 BILLION dollars per annum on charities primarily asigned to Africa.

I know we want to love each other but like John Coffey said "he used their love to kill them"! or "He kill 'em with they love. That's how it is ever' day. All over the worl"

And this is coming from the legendary Monster movie guy Stephen King. This is the Ultimate in monsters.

i'll be the first to admit america is.... ah... well, i'm ashamed to live here, honestly.
but, i don't know...
though i agree almost one-hundred percent with you...the racial area is one where i see things much differently -- and i think that's only because i live here and know the inside view on how odd that whole dynamic has been since their elections into their offices and since.

...i cease argument.
i may be intelligent, and don't surrender to lack of fight to go on; but in all respects, don't find it necessary when we both agree on the main idea -- that america... is a monster.

I actually am "very" proud of America even if i dont spend most of my life on that peice of our planet. I think it is the worlds greatest civilization/society .."ever". And given time can ascend to hights that people today could never even "begin" to imagine.

I mean as much as their is sexism and racism ..take a look at the rest of the planet. America not only has created a society with so many differing cultures and values but did this without the need for massive religious wars. Aside from the Civil war (wich to me is the heart of America and a clear demonstrator of your unmatched moral power) America is without question leading us all. If this is'nt enough to make anyone Patriotic/Matriotic for you ..many Americans actually feel guilty for the misteps of the past and present! You folks are like the overacheiving kid in (UN) class that always sees how she can do better ...awesome!
