In the spirit of Royalty Week, I wanted to show you guys Prince Solaris' personal guards, Riptide and Golden Valor!

Riptide, a hippogriff who is a part of the Creature Inclusion Initative (which allows different species to work in higher up positions, such as royal guards, in and out of Equestria), is one of Prince Solaris' first lines of defense. Even though he's rather lanky for a guard, Riptide is strong and determined to protect his prince. When he's able to go out, which is usually whenever Solaris goes to socialize with the ponies of Canterlot, Riptide enjoys socializing with foals who run up to marvel at his armor or large wings. He entertains them with whatever they want, whether its a group of fillies wanting to decorate his mane with flowers or colts who want him to lift as many of them up as he can with one arm. Riptide is one to embrace his femininity, which tends to attract quite a few females. Unfortunately, his tide flows the other way.

Golden Valor, the second of Solaris' personal guards, is more of a stoic type of stallion than Riptide, who just wants to please people. While he does tend to intimidate everyone he comes into contact with, Valor is actually quite a burly cinnamon roll to the few ponies close to him. Valor is less patient with foals and finds it very hard to interact with them, and is very glad that Riptide can entertain them so well while the blonde stallion stays by Solaris' side. Valor, who's only a few years older than his prince, was recommended highly by Princess Cadance and Prince Shining Armor, who hosted him during his training in the Crystal Empire as a part of the Creature Inclusion Initiative. He has yet to disappoint, but tends to overwork himself in order to impress those around him. The only ones who can seem to make him relax: Solaris and Riptide.
