Time for some sirens~

The longer time passed from the defeat of the Dazzlings, the more Sonata Dusk wanted to return to Equestria. She missed her siren form, her homeland, and was tired of Adagio and Aria constantly trying to plan their revenge. Even without their gemstones to manipulate other's emotions, the two wanted nothing more than to beat Sunset Shimmer and her friends. Sonata, having felt dragged along most of the time even when the three were causing mayhem in Equestria, hoped that if she asked for forgiveness, she would receive it. Fortunately for her, Sunset (hesitantly) heard the siren out and had no issue asking Princess Twilight what she thought about everything. They debated heavily, weighing the pros and cons of it all, before agreeing that as long as Sonata worked hard and proved she meant what she said, she could return to Equestria under Twilight's watchful gaze. And when it became clear that Twilight wanted Sonata to say in the Ponyville Castle and attend the School of Magic upon her move back to equestrian society, the siren was more than happy to agree to anything that would give her a chance to go home.

Sonata studied hard, regardless of how incredibly nervous other students were to be anywhere near her, and regularly visited Guidance Counselor Starlight Glimmer to ask what more she can do to prove herself anything but a danger. Having experienced similar feelings and previously being desperate to redesign her image after becoming Twilight's student, Starlight invited Sonata to visit her old village in hopes of introducing her to potential new friends. If they had dealt with Starlight's brainwashing, how bad could a siren be?

Even though she was unsure that ponies would want to be her friends, a handful of ponies decided to approach her (with most of them being foals who had never heard of or seen a siren). But the one that immediately caught her eye was Feather Bangs, who happened to be recently single. She found herself immediately smitten by his charm and confidence, and he seemed just as interested in her, if only because he couldn't see anything wrong rebounding with a siren who swooned just as much as the silly mares who were always following him. Feather had only planned on stringing her along for a passion-filled week or two, but they ended up becoming completely enamored with each other for over a year, with Sonata Dusk visiting him every chance she had away from the School of Friendship. When the siren ends up pregnant, Sonata goes to Starlight for advice. With Twilight, Starlight, and Sunburst on the case, they learned that the chances of her baby surviving without a gemstone of their own was little to none, leaving Sonata with constant anxiety over her child. Feather Bangs was absolutely no help when it came to her pregnancy, having no idea how to comfort her. Just before her baby's birth, Sonata Dusk asks Starlight and Twilight for a favor, to their somber agreement. The moment after Andante Isle is born, the unicorn and alicorn fuse Sonata's last shattered gem shard into their chest, successfully passing Sonata's magic onto Equestria's newest siren. But without her magic to feed on emotions, it isn't long before Sonata Dusk passes away, leaving Twilight and Starlight to delivery the baby to Feather Bangs.

Just like during the pregnancy, Feather Bangs is no help. He has no idea how to be a father and lacks responsible behavior, and instead pushes Andante onto the Princess of Friendship, saying that the baby siren would do better at the School of Friendship, where creatures could see Andante grow up and find them less terrifying than a grown siren. He makes sure to visit the baby regularly, if only to avoid looking bad, and the visits become farther and fewer between as Andante grows up.

For those of your wondering, I headcanon sirens being able to feed off any emotion, but anger/chaos is more powerful and delicious. Sonata (and any siren in Equestria) can eat other's emotions without causing mayhem, but certain sirens preferred throwing Equestria into shenanigans. Their gemstones allow them to manipulate creatures, but even when shattered, pieces of the gems can keep a siren fed in the most basic way possible.
